Chuwi lapbook crashing – chrome & youtube

I have a 14” chuwi lapbook and have had it just over a year now. It was previously running beautifully – I couldn’t fault it. However over the last few days when watching YouTube in chrome the laptop has crashed randomly, with the screen freezing and on occasion the audio becoming massively distorted. I then have to power the laptop down using the power button before turning it on again.  It seems to Be running fine on all other fronts. Any advice on what this issue could be?

Some software issue I would say. I had issues with Chrome loosing connection to the internet but Edge and Firefox running perfect. Turns out it was an extension issue or some other software issue. A factory reset fixed everything for me.

Hi. I am joining this thread, since I am gavjng exactly the same issue:

CHUWI Laptop freezes after a while of YouTube playback in chrome, started a couple of days ago.

Since I don’t know what Windows updates ran in the background, I will start playing around with chrome hardware acceleration. Maybe disabling this helps. The whole thing might be related to the video driver?

If I find out anything, I am going to share.

install the VLC extension  and play YT via chrome over VLC – much more responsive and much lighter on resources.

….and if you really must use chrome, use Flash Peak Slimjet – it is like chrome without google crap
