Did the Hi 12 Keyboard break my screen?

Hi all, I have a crack in my screen that goes from the bottom located where the right hinge is for the keyboard. I’ve noticed that if one were to open the clamshell provided by the keyboard while one hinge isn’t completely seated – a stress is caused on the other because it is now pushing for two. It’s quite easy to twist the tablet here and bend the holes where the keyboard’s pegs enter. This is something to watch for if your Hi 12 and keyboard aren’t in a case holding the tablet fully connected with the keyboard.

I am unsure whether the crack happened during an event like this or if the maladjusted connection pushed against my screen with a bent metal edge. I had a tempered glass cover at the time and assumed it would suffice, but unfortunately it is cracked through. The crack starts precisely at the hinge.

I am considering this purchase, but after purchasing a Pipo screen that wasn’t enough for my needs a couple years back, I’m reticent to fork over another small stack of cash for nothing.

To be clear, First -the keyboard was of the original white key type. Secondly -No functionality is lost with the crack on the screen. The entire screen has touch response and there is no LCD bleed (yet). Thirdly  -the crack is now fully across the screen.

Now to my question. Is the above posted outer glass for sale what I need to fix this? It the Outer panel a digitizer? How hard is the fix. I expect to need a heat gun or hair dryer. Do I really even need to do this.? I think the crack may still travel to the LCD or digitizer matrices.

Sorry, multiple questions, but all on the straight concern of .. am I doing it right? I’m asking of course if this is the right part, but any other advice will be appreciated.

Oh ya… I also stopped using the Hi12 keyboard. I think this is a very serious issue. The thread started by Guy was a month ago and the only reply was another person saying they too had this issue.

At the very least, I think Chris could write a post recommending care when using the keyboard. Always be sure it is seated correctly when opening and closing. The tablet is way under engineered for the strength of the hinge resistance.

Has this issue been addressed already?
