I was just wondering, would Xiaomi powerbank 2 20 000mAh charge it?

I think, 12V 1,5A could be sufficient to charge if notebook was turned off. Can someone try it?

I tried it with several powerbanks which support QC2 and QC3 (Xiaomi powerbank 2 10Ah and 20Ah). You need an additional circuit to force 12V output from the powerbank: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1PCS-QC2-0-qc3-0-Tester-Automatically-Detects-Phone-Quick-Charge-Voltage-Meter-Simulator-Trigger-9V/32771660912.html. Than the charging works. Oh and you have to make your own wire from usb to power plug. Mind you that the powerbank does get quite hot outputing 18W for a long time…

Have you tried this one yourself?

Yes, it works, but I think powerbank efficiency suffers, even a Xiaomi powerbank 2 20000 mAh gets really hot after 30 min of use… The “force 12V circuit” itself gets just a little warm to the touch…

So you don’t recommend to use it that way to charge notebook via power bank. Thank you for information.

Well I have another much better solution – I use this adjustable powerbank: http://www.ebay.com/itm/20V-Mobile-Power-Bank-UPS-6-18650-Battery-Charger-For-Laptop-Iphone-Universal-/321866773183?var=&hash=item4af0c132bf

Inside I have 6 panasonic 18650 ncr18650b (3400mAh) cells. The efficiency is very high – about 95% measured and there is virtually NO heat produced. Well, this definitely looks interesting since EZ Book 3 PRO needs just 12V to charge it could be really good backup power supply. Is capacity of your powerbank sufficient for charging to 100%?

By the way, really good job with that project.

Maybe you could use an old power cord to extend it? I did this with my Cube i7 charger:

Buy this 3 meter extension cable, its what I use with my ezbook 3 pro, its made of 18 gauge wire so fine for 3amp current output of charger.

Along with the approx 1m cable on the charger it gives total 4 meters length.

How did you get that in there? Simply by force?

I’m thinking about heating up the cable a bit for this.

I grinded the 2 prongs with some sand paper. 😀 Maybe it’s possible to just push it in but it was alot easier when I sanded them. It’s not much, like 1-2mm.

How does it work? I was thinking of just cutting the cord and solder on another piece of cable to make it longer. But I read somewhere that this could cause the voltage to drop and thereby damaging the laptop. You know anything of this?

Sorry to revive an old thread but does that actually work as a mobile charging solution? The item description indicates it only works as battery backup.
