I can tell you that im using it as a daily driver since a few weeks and i love it. I use an office suite, google docs, chrome and do some light photo editing with no issues at all. The pc is alway snappy and can manage multi tasking pretty well. This is said from someone who is used to Macbook Pro/Air or other high end Windows laptops. So don’t worry this can be for sure your daily driver.
July 13, 2017 at 5:22 pm #69180Hi Michael,
Thanks so much! That’s definitely encouraging to hear. How would you compare the screen to a MacBook?
Thanks!

The screen is great, ofc you won’t get those vibrant colors you get on glossy screens but i prefer matte finish. Lacks a bit on maximum brightness but its nothing that will bother you unless you use it under direct sunlight.
July 13, 2017 at 7:53 pm #69189So somehow my big response to you was removed or accidentally deleted I guess. I got a message that you replied asking about the hinge and screen though. Not sure whats up with this forum, probably a bug or something. As for the hinge, it feels very very solid. I would not expect the hinge itself to fail in the near future. The only thing that is always a possibility is the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard that runs through that hinge. Depending on how durable it is and how it is routed, that can always crack in half over thousands of times flexing with the open/close motion. Again that’s pretty much all laptops though and certainly not exclusive to this one.
As for the screen itself, I second Michael’s comment. I think it ‘s a great screen. My work computer is a dell 15 inch laptop with a matte 720p screen. The jumper blows that thing out of the water, and my Dell sells for 3 times what the jumper costs. Tough to compare the screen specifically to that of a macbook as that’s a glossy screen with very vivid colors, but you will not be disappointed by the screen whatsoever. It’s amazing to me how far screens and tech in general has come and how low the price is sinking.

July 13, 2017 at 9:00 pm #69195Thanks so much I really appreciate your help. Between you and Michael I’m definitely sold. I’m sure this will be helpful to others as well. I’ll likely order within the next few days and make a post/review when it arrives.

Sure thing, I hope you can find a good deal on it! Definitely search around on all the sites (gearbest, geekbuying, etc) and see what is out there. Even at $250-$275, I think it’s a good deal. $300 would probably be my limit before I at least did a hard look around at other options that might be a little more but have better specs.
July 14, 2017 at 12:30 am #69208Grant – Ive had this laptop for about 2 weeks now. Ive been using it for the same purpose as yourself (college student) and its great. Build quality is legit, screen is of great quality and excellent viewing angles, keyboard is nice (still getting used to typing on it since i use im used to typing on a pc keyboard at work everyday), battery life is very impressive. I bought a 2280 ssd this week, hasnt arrived yet, once it does till upgrade the storage. But this computer is DEF worth your money. I bought it on a flash sale for $215 at gearbest (took almost 2 months to arrive, first order was cancelled). Def buy it if you can get it for less than $250.
July 14, 2017 at 10:00 am #69216I can second everything said here, I’ve had mine for a week and I am really impressed, as is everyone who sees it. No one can believe it only cost $220. Even $250 is a great deal though.
The track pad is pretty poor though, I think most people would advice you use a mouse with this notebook.
July 14, 2017 at 5:47 pm #69240Thanks to everyone, Simon and Gabriel as well. I’m ordering one today. $259 seems a bit steep considering it’s gone for $219 but for all I know this is the lowest it will be for awhile. Gotta get it before school starts!
July 14, 2017 at 7:41 pm #69246July 14, 2017 at 7:52 pm #69247Strange… For me it is showing $259.99… different prices on different browsers?

July 15, 2017 at 12:30 am #69256Gearbest links with special prices or coupons do not always work – until you’re logged in.
Had a long discussion to get behind that yesterday while a daily promo for MiMax 2. The special price only appears if logged in, if not the promo code doesn’t work.
And don’t forget: if you go on gearbest and search for that product you won’t always find this promo cause there are flash sales etc. that are eMail only or “Link Only” visible.
Not as easy … saving money needs carefull work/attention.
Good luck - WOLF
