Has anybody tried flashing the modded bios using AFUWINGUI.exe or the dos version?
February 4, 2018 at 5:26 pm #78812Thanks but I was looking for the Main tab. It’s present if you have a locked BIOS
Thanks

If you want to tag me, my username is thegiollyFebruary 5, 2018 at 7:07 pm #79029I’m glad reading that several people have used my rom file succesfully. That, including my upgrade, gives me a good feeling that my version is not bad/corrupt.
I can’t stress this too often: Thanks Giovanni and Moe for the good work.
Btw, where can I find the pad and shims to upgrade the cooling part of my v6 EZB3Pro??

- Navigate \Tools\AFU\AFUWIN and launch AFUWINGUI.EXE
- Press save
Pretty simple I know but I didn’t find it clear which tool I needed to use.
I’ve unlocked my bios with the hope it will stop my WD Green 120GB SSD from disappearing in Windows. The only configuration I’ve changed is the SATA controller from”hard disk drive” to “solid state drive. Not sure if anyone else has any other changes I can make to stop this from happening? Does anyone know if I could get better performance by switching back to Microsoft ACHI driver? or is it best to stay with the modded Intel one?
Cheers!
Danny.

February 8, 2018 at 5:53 pm #79136Hi all!
First of all thanks Giovanni for your great work and and thank to all the persons who collaborated with you to achieve such result.
I am the owner since end of january of such ezbook 3 pro (BIOS V6 Date 12/05/2017 19:25:21…)
Today following your instructions i updated the bios with the unlocked you provided in the EFI ambient.
Everything went fine. I am a real newbie and i was scared to risk to brick this laptop.
I am very disappointed with the company who built this device. I don’t understand if it is a choice to
cause so many problems… for example there is no way to let a m.2 ssd (once cloned) to start instead of the
EMMC memory. No way to boot an os like win 10 from usb key (in case i’d like or ought to reinstall).
or too boot any linux distribution (mint, ubuntu or alike)… very disappointing EFI/UEFI development.
I want to share a ba experience i had today (an attemp to let the “usb key” created by WD SSD dashboard)
I noticed in the bios menu “chipset|southbridge|OS selection|… Linux intel…” saved an restarted…
90%dark screen i had to switch off the lights because keyboard key to increase light was uneffective”.
Now the wd Linux usb key started but… almost totally dark screen. It accepepted the ctr+alt+del.
del … but once entered the bios the keyboard was dead. I plugged an usb key and luckily i could reset…
I hope in the futurre there will be chance to decide to let the ssd start. so far seems impossibile.
Many thanks Giovanni.
Forgive my terrible english! Greetings AlbertoFebruary 8, 2018 at 7:43 pm #79141Ciao Alberto, is there no “BOOT” section in your BIOS, where you can change the boot order?
If your SSD is properly detected and an OS is installed, it should be listed there.
If you’re looking for a way to run linux ditributions like the ubuntu-derivatives, I can only recommend this guide, which worked perfectly for me:
Manja as an alternative Linux distro runs out of the box, everything worked right away for me and installation was easy.
@thegiolly: I also tried to set the OS in BIOS to linux, which resulted in a blank screen, not booting or doing anything at all. No dark screen with too little illumination, just nothing. I was really afraid I bricked it – but disconnecting the battery for a while helped to reset the BIOS. Anyone else experience that or wants to try reproducing this behauviour?https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Kuzorra
February 8, 2018 at 8:28 pm #79143Ciao Ernst Kuzorra,
Yes Bios “can see” perfectly the WD120 SSD, list it, and allows to boot from it.
But it doesn’t. I mean i can tell to boot from but i keep booting from emmc.
I made several experiments. For example i set the OS to linux-intel in BIOS (even windows 7 option).
Brightness 5 to 10%, keyboard locked but the power button keeps being effective, “hold pressed” for around 10 seconds it restarts
to override the ineffective keyboard i plugged a usb keyboard (even a wifi 2.4 is ok).
Doing so, in the complete darkness (with a torch for the keyboard) i realized that:
those Linux based program (like Acronis recovery “written” on the usb) runs smoothly.
When BIOS OS is set to Windows it freezes the laptop
I think that Giovanni skills could allow him to detect if in those BIOS-OS choices brightness is set to minimum and Keyboard off.
From My point of view the original coders didn’t develop the bios as it had too…
Never saw, such kind of problems!
Thanks again! I can take and post pictures of bios pages if needed.
Nice evening to everyone!!Alberto
February 9, 2018 at 10:09 am #79175I don’t know if this is an option for you, but if you wipe up the eMMC partition completely, the booting issue might disappear, since there is no more confusion with different Windows10’s.
If your SSD-Windows has also installed it’s boot loader to the eMMC, it won’t boot at first after you’ve formatted the whole eMMC, but you should be able to fix it with an USB Installation Media for Windows 10. Best way (or at least the easiest) is to have a clean laptop, no data or partitions on SSD and eMMCit, (disable eMMC in BIOS if you like) then install to SSD. Results in no confusing boot entries….

February 9, 2018 at 12:23 pm #79181Which procedure should I follow to unlock my BIOS V5 Date 11/06/2017?
I am an Italian user I do not understand English well, I would like to install ubuntu, but first they told me that I have to unlock the bios;to launch bootable usb.
Thank you very much.

If you want to tag me, my username is thegiollyFebruary 9, 2018 at 1:32 pm #79184I have already tried to select as a primary USB boot device … but when it is going to boot usb bootable, the screen “freeze” with only a white line at the top left of the screen. And I’m forced to restart to infinity, and reselect as the primary windows boot device. I read about the same problem in other forums. For this and more I need the advanced options of the bios.
