I don’t know if it’s a defect, but it comes from the part that adjusts the screen brightness by pwm. It works at a lower frequence which in this case could be heard by you.
But if the loudness of it is to high or not is beyond my knowledge.July 15, 2017 at 2:59 pm #69281I have the 2nd gen ezbook pro 3 (ssd slot, no wireless ac) and I can confirm a buzz or whining sound when the brightness is under 40%. I normally leave it at 25%, but it goes away at 50%.
July 15, 2017 at 3:02 pm #69283One more screen related thing (that you reminded me of) :
My screen still has this border inside it, does yours? Check out this thread: https://techtablets.com/forum/topic/ezbook-pro-3-screen/
I’m not sure its condensation, I’m on vacation at the moment and moved from a humid country back to a not so humid country and it’s still there. The house I am in at the moment has the central air running all the time, so it shouldn’t be that humid indoors.
July 16, 2017 at 12:24 am #69299@fv,
as stated, if it’s in the crowded situation (working room, caffee, etc) it’s not noticeable,
but if it’s in a silent room with only Air Conditioner, you can hear the buzz if the display brightness is under 40%.
@Norg
Yeah, I usually use the 0-25% brightness too, and this is my first time to use laptop that need 40% brightness in room condition due to the buzzing sound
and about the screen border, mine doesn’t have it.
about that screen border that you mention, isn’t that due to the screen got pressed for a long time?
My office laptop have a situation like that too (HP ProBook, old series) and the technician said that screen border happen due to the screen got pressed too much for a long time…July 17, 2017 at 9:53 am #69333I have a v3, m.2 slot and wireless ac, I also have the noise , it goes away at a brightness level of 50% or over. It is not very noticeable. I didn’t notice it for the first week, only after using it in the dead of the night.
I wonder where exactly the cultprit is, if its on the main board or on the bottom of the LCD panel. Maybe some hot glue or something could be used to cover over it and silence it.
July 19, 2017 at 9:51 pm #69458Mine buzzes as well below 40% brightness.
As “FV” explained above it (most probably) is due to low frequency PWM (Wikipedia on PWM) used to adjust the brightness.July 20, 2017 at 5:23 am #69464Hi,
I’m waiting for receive the notebook… when I’ll have i’lltry to use a little rf magnet (maybe the noise come from unwanted rf signal).
Ciao
July 20, 2017 at 6:06 am #69466It is possible that RF interference is involved – the buzzing becomes louder when moving the CPU load higher.
How would you do “RF management”?
July 20, 2017 at 12:53 pm #69477Hi,
sometime it’s possibile to obain a sort ofmini ring (magnetic). This ring embrace the wire and, sometime, the rf noise disappear.
