It’s definitely a problem an antenna problem. As you can see by the pictures I uploaded that the only way I could get any reception was by actually putting my tethered cellphone on top of the tablet. Now the fun begins trying to get technical support from China. haha
I am going to push for a direct refund instead of going back and forth trying to fix it but who knows. I plan to act fast and dispute the charge if I don’t have a solution by Tuesday . In the end I will probably have to eat the custom duty costs but I will be damned if I will pay for shipping costs. I have dealt with Chinese suppliers who purposely send defective / wrong products knowing full well what a pain in the ass it is for people to ship items back for repair / exchange. I am definitely not saying this is happening in this case but let’s see how they handle this situation.
August 16, 2015 at 12:51 pm #9833I am waiting for your tablet coming soon Chris, i really hope to see your review soon 🙂
As i have bought the Cube i7 stylus days ago, so i really want to see the comparison between Ondav919 and Cube i7.
From what i see so far, Onda v919 maybe better with 4:3 ratio and it may not be hot like i7
August 16, 2015 at 3:10 pm #9837To me they’re not directly comparable, the v919 is purely a core-m consumption device. Its battery is small’ish, it doesn’t have usb3, in fact its connectivity is extremely limited, no companion keyboard, obviously no stylus support.
But it’s a better form factor and weight for holding in portrait. In my eyes you get the v919 for a smooth tv/movie/reading/webbrowsing device, the cube if you want a laptop replacement and need to get a bit of work done.
August 16, 2015 at 3:14 pm #9838@warknight118 It left Amsterdam on the 13th so I expect it early this week hopefully, tomorrow or Tuesday so I can start work. My Teclast X98 Pro will arrive on Wednesday. The v919 will have a nicer screen over the i7 Stylus, sharper since it has 264 PPI. I image it will be just as hot as the i7 Stylus. All Core M’s I have used get hot, they are twice as powerful than the Atoms and only passively cooled. I imagine the V919 3G Core M will also use the rear casing as part of its heat sink and get just as hot as a result.
But it looks like my v919 will be in Chinese so I will have to do a fresh install first.
Bill is correct, you can’t really compare them. they are very different tablets for different needs. One has a stylus and keyboard. the other is more a powerful tablet for reading, web and store games. Also, I will flash mine to dual boot I think if it’s not too risky.

I am wondering if they are aggressively throttling the CPU due to the passive cooling. Running Prime95 and using the Taskmanager to monitor CPU performance I was not able to get the CPU higher than 1.67GHz at the start of the test and as the cpu become warmer (which was relatively fast) the cpu would settle in the 900Mhz to 1Ghz range.
August 16, 2015 at 6:35 pm #9857Well I was certainly not getting any throttling for my geekbench run as that score is pretty much bang on for a 5Y10c.
I will give mine a bit of a test but yes I guess it will have quite aggressive throttling I would imagine, its a v.small form factor for such a powerful processor. As a side note I have a macbook 2015 sitting here and that will throttle in a couple of mins if you 100% the cpu.

Having Prime95 slam each core to 100% is definitely not a real world scenario but what surprised me that the max cpu speed didn’t at least hit the 2Ghz limit at least once. Maybe Taskmanger didnt read it correctly. I’ll try CPUz
August 17, 2015 at 8:28 am #9884Hi,
Do you know how to remove the Android OS? All I need is only Windows.

Currently this tablet only comes with Windows. No need to remove Android.
August 17, 2015 at 1:09 pm #9903Hi Dasher,
Mine comes with Windows 10 and Android.
Do you have any idea how to remove it?
Thanks.
August 17, 2015 at 2:24 pm #9906Hi Dasher, Mine comes with Windows 10 and Android. Do you have any idea how to remove it? Thanks.
You must have the latest release batch. The first batch was Windows 10 Chinese only. Is your Windows in English at all? To remove it, follow this guide: http://techtablets.com/forums/topic/how-to-delete-android-and-merge-partitions-in-windows-for-more-space/
Edit: Mine didn’t arrive today, arghh. Slow mail service here 🙁

Well, after receiving yet another email from http://www.onda-tablet.com telling me to reset my router to fix my WiFi problem ( which makes about 5 emails telling me to do the very same thing……sigh) I have launched a dispute through PayPal.
I kept telling them the issue wasn’t on my end. Not only did the Core-M not see my access point it could not see any of the 11 others that are available in my area (that all my othe tablet’s recognize). To make matterd worse they shipped the tablet with an unactivatable version of Windows 10.
I know there are definite langauage barrier issues but hell this tablet was expensive . It costs over $500.00 CDN. I am thinking I must have been crazy to spend this kind of money on a Chinese tablet with all the known / unknown perils. I have definetly learnt my lesson and will only buy local or sites like Amazon.
August 19, 2015 at 7:52 pm #10086I have two big questions about this tablet. #1 the SSD, I wonder if since it is a SSD and not eMMC, is it upgradable? #2 what do the insides look like and how hard is it to open. Which kinda goes to #1 Anyone willing to open theirs?
August 19, 2015 at 8:10 pm #10091Its is 100% an ssd and I’m 99% sure it will be m.2 and upgradable…. but 64gb is ok for me atm.. so I have no motivation to busting mine open.. just yet.

Well, have a 256GB 42mm long m.2 ssd waiting and ready. I hope they used this size in the m.2. =)
