Looks good. More excited about the Matebook X Pro.

“Huawei has instead stuck the camera into a pop-up module hidden under a keycap in the function keys row. It’s F6.5 — press it and the camera pops out, press it again and it slots away. And yes, that means the camera is even closer to you and gives an even more pronounced up-nose view. ” :))

That’s the only part I don’t like. The XPS style up the nose camera view 🙁 But for serious skype calls with family etc. I always use a 1080p Logitech external camera anyway. So that doesn’t bother me much. But still not the greatest to have the camera so low!

The most recent reviews of production models of the M5 (8″ and 10″)  are 4 stars out of 5.  The 2560 x 1600 panel is only “decent”.  No headphone jack.  EMUI and bloatware … yuck.  Kirin 960 CPU was released in 2016, and stutters in screen rotation.  However, great standby time, USB-C with fast charge, Android 8.0, active stylus (Huawei proprietary).  Transfer speed, OTG, and drive formats not covered in the reviews.  The M5 models have a gimmicky curved glass screen.

The M5 falls far short of its targets, the Apple iPad and Samsung Tab S3 and Galaxy Book.   The gap between the M5 and the Shenzen tablets is small, even nil.  The gap between the Huawei and the iPad/Samsung level has grown compared to the M3 generation.
