Hi, I am very interested to a guide on how to install linux on teclast x2 pro… best in a bad English than French, but French is better than nothing…
I have installed xubuntu in dual boot with Windows, but I wanted to change the bootloader because sucks; also the wifi don’t work and so it is practically unusable…
you could help me on how to change the bootloader and how to fix the wiFi ??
I am not a neat freak but not even a noob… thank you so much!
PS I was going to open a tread to ask someone if potev help me with linux ; )
April 15, 2016 at 11:29 am #33634Hello!
i want to help you but i have no time actually to make a structural response.
I try in the net days, the wifi driver is the RTL8723BU, some tuto exist in english for install and compile the kernel.
It’s ok for me for linux mint 17.3 rosa.
For the boot install Qrefind under xubuntu with pack debian.

April 15, 2016 at 12:36 pm #33644I thank you very much for your availability, you can just tell me where to find the driver (I have to download it from windows because of ubuntu I have no internet) and how to install it?
for the remaining I think I can wait when you have time or at least I think I can make do … thanks 🙂
April 15, 2016 at 5:24 pm #33678Igive you the link i use to work my wifi on ubuntu 16.04 that i install on a usbkey-ssd inGPT.
I verify the wifi is all functionnal, just respect the process:
https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/reserve-7#TOC-Realtek-RTL8723BU-chipset-0bda:b720
Realtek RTL8723AU chipset (0bda:b720) sur TECLAST X2 pro
4. Note: unfortunately, the RTL8723AU and the RTL8723BU chipset share the same USB ID…. Which is of course highly annoying. The how-to below is for the RTL8723AU chipset; for the RTL8723BU chipset see item 8 (right column).
For the Realtek RTL8723AU chipset, you have to install a driver. You can proceed like this:
a. First establish internet connection by other means, for example by ethernet cable.
b. ouvrir une fenetre de terminal.
(You can launch a terminal window like this: *Click*)c. Copier et coller le texte en bleu,(gras) suivant dans l’ordre ci-dessous dans votre terminal ouvert en tant qu’administrateur :
sudo apt-get install git build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r) gksu leafpad
d. Download the driver packages by means of git, with this command:
git clone https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723au.git
Have the driver packages become unavailable? Then download a compressed file with all the packages from my Google Drive (packages as they were in November 2015). Then unpack it and place the files straight in your user folder, otherwise the next steps will fail. Example: John should place the unpacked files in /home/john and not in some subdirectory.
e. Now you’re going to compile the required kernel module from the driver packages. Copy/paste this line into the terminal, in order to enter the folder with the driver packages:
cd rtl8723au
And then run this command:
make
f. Finally, install the compiled module with this command:
sudo make install
g. Now put the current flawed driver on the blacklist; for that, use copy/paste to transfer the following command line to the terminal:
gksudo leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
Now a text file is being opened. In that text file, add the following blue text block, at the end of the existing text (use copy/paste):
# The rtl8723au and the rtl8723bu drivers are flawed,
# so they need to be prevented from loading.
# This should give the 8723au or the 8723bu driver
# the chance to load instead.
blacklist rtl8723au
blacklist r8723au
blacklist rtl8723bu
blacklist r8723bu
Save the modified text file and close it.
h. Reboot your computer. ( Personally i stop at this step.)
i. Your wifi should work well now: click on the icon of Network Manager in the system tray, in order to see the available wireless networks.
Note: do NOT install newer kernels, because then you’ll probably lose the driver again! In Linux Mint you never get a newer kernel by default, so that’s OK. But in Ubuntu you do. So I advise to pin Ubuntu to the current kernel (item 7, left column).
If you also want Bluetooth, execute the following commands one by one:
git clone https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723au_bt.git
cd rtl8723au_bt
make
sudo make install
sudo modprobe -v 8723au_btApril 15, 2016 at 5:34 pm #33679If you want to use a usb wifi key, one is very intresting and immidiatly detect under ubuntu and linux-mint 17.03 rosa, is TP-LINK:
TL-WN823N. you plug and use!
have a lot of fun !
April 15, 2016 at 6:08 pm #33683Hello fan of linux!
I tell us that the Teclast X2 pro (perhahs x3 pro), is a tablet full compatible ubuntu, and linux mint (i try them).
I have bought this tablet for install linux with W10 because i don’t support microsoft os spy. Gearbest say that it’s not possible,it’s not true for the geek
The first no secure boot on this tab, but the ssd is GPT in uefi.
The second is the 64 G0 is to small for W10 + linux1 + linux2
The third, you must install a linux 64 bits for UEFI (sign of the os in the UEFI).
For me, i replace the ssd 64go by an other128Go (256Go to expensive for me).
I had must reinstall w10 on the new ssd (process on this website) + shrink the windows part for install linux- mint.
For a easy boot, i install Qrefind (.deb) under linux-mint 17.03 rosa.
Now, when i start my X2 pro, i have a screen where i can chose the os to start by enter key ( you must have the mechanic keyboard connect to the tablet for choose).
If a pepople have a X3 pro, speak about linux install !

April 15, 2016 at 6:39 pm #33690Wich is the right driver? You say rtl8723bu but you show guide to install rtl8723au…. Just to be clean…
April 15, 2016 at 8:19 pm #33696ok, you read and apply process 8 point:
8. Note: unfortunately, the RTL8723BU and the RTL8723AU chipset share the same USB ID…. Which is of course highly annoying. The how-to below is for the RTL8723BU chipset; for the RTL8723AU chipset see item 4 (left column).

April 16, 2016 at 4:42 pm #33804I have not install debian, i try “Jessie” on my hollidays.
But before install it on the X2 pro directly, i willbe try it on a usb-key SSD 64Go M2.2242 bootable on X2 pro.
Before reply you, tell me, have you your wifi ok now under xubuntu?

April 17, 2016 at 10:12 am #33883hello, I can not install the WiFi driver because there are missing packages in the terminal that has to download in order to compile the driver … I ordered from amazon an USB hub with Ethernet output that comes with working internet tomorrow …. I should be able to compile everything and operate the WiFi …. but now, when I turn on the tablet, ubuntu starts immediately, without going through the grub …. so I wanted something about Qrefind you said you have used on your mint to have the possibility to chose the operating system…
April 17, 2016 at 8:11 pm #33989hello!
Quickly, you go on website Qrefind and under ubuntu you install read and follow the process for linux debian:
http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/installing.html#packagefile
When Qrefind is functional, you start your tablet and appear the logo teclast and immediately the qrefind page and with the mechanic keyboard (already connect), with the arrow of the keyboard you choose (windows or ubuntu or an other os you have install) + enter .
If you the keyboard isn’t connect, Qrefind start on the last os using.

April 18, 2016 at 3:35 pm #34090thank you very much for helping! I finally managed to configure the wifi (before I had to make updates of all kinds, some for the terminal libraries and for the system ) … I also installed now Qrefind , it seems that everything works perfectly … but now I see in the screen Qrefind 2 linux ….. I do not know why …I ask you something else : on windows , to enter accented letters with this keyboard , I have to press ” alt ” + ” letter” while in linux does not work …. you know how you can solve?many thanks again for the help !PS I’m writing from linux ;pApril 18, 2016 at 6:13 pm #34138hi,
I don’t see your problem, i join a video who give the process machine.
Verify in the boot order (F7) that qrefind is the first step.
Have fun !
