Had much the same problem today. Went to plug in a dvd drive and the screen went blank. Held the power button down for 15 secs, then hit it again, the blue power button flashed once and that was as far as it went. Mines is only 6 weeks old, and up till now had been working perfectly, although in the last few days there have been some Windows 10 updates????
January 10, 2018 at 6:12 am #76698Hello everyone,
What a sad topic this is! I wish I knew how well the Ezbook pro 3 was selling because then there would be some kind of context for these back screen complaints. What I mean is, what percentage of these units have this problem which essentially renders this laptop unusable and impossible to repair?
Cold comfort for those who have the problem, I know. But you would think that Jumper would have something to say about this or there would be someone on this forum who would report back that they talked to a Jumper tech and he/she said to do such and such or that there was a 1 800 number to call etc.
The unspoken dark side of buying this tech direct from China is that when you get a bad unit you are going to be seriously out of pocket with very limited support from the manufacturer. Or no support at all. How many people take the plunge, buy something that stops working and then that great deal with the low low price ends up collecting dust somewhere in their household?
I think that over the last three years I have spent easily over a thousand dollars, I shudder to say maybe even closer to two thousand dollars on Chinese tech direct from China. It has been on the whole an interesting and fun experience. I have bought Cube, Teclast, Chuwi and now Jumper tech of all sizes and descriptions. The prices for what you get are incredibly low. Mostly everything I have bought has worked and continues to function properly. Even the problems I have had have been interesting and I have learned so much about how computers work.
One last comment before I sign off on this topic and have nothing more to say. I bought a Teclast x98 pro that had these problems about two years ago. There are many posts about “black screen” and sudden Windows 10 shutdown etc in the forum on this site. I had black screen happen to me numerous times on that tablet. There was a stickied thread about it with a lot of suggestions in the x98 forum.
Now the problem with this Teclast product was not nearly as serious as it is with the ezbook pro 3. At least you could recover and even change a bios setting to cut down on the number of times you would get screen blackout. You had a fighting chance to do something. But I find it curious how similar the problem is to what people are experiencing with the ezbook pro 3. Could this problem be one of Jumper not properly setting up the hardware to work with Windows 10? I never had a screen blackout when I was running Android on the x98 pro. Pity that our ezbook pro 3’s are not dual boot like the Teclast x98. I would be willing to bet that you would not have this problem running Linux or Android. In fact, perhaps to avoid the possibility of this happening would switching to Linux be a viable alternative to Windows on this laptop? Someone who knows more about OS software than I do would have to answer that.
January 10, 2018 at 11:47 am #76707most is hardware issue.. very low price = high chance to fail
January 11, 2018 at 9:22 am #76756I have this same situation. I ordered my jumper ezbook 3 pro on 4th September and it came somwhere in november with, 4th version. It had been functioning perfectly until 2nd january when it happened. My guess that it is related with this stupid windows fall update that messes up with power plans. The problem I think is dead motherboard. They are no expensive but inexistent in europe to buy new, which is bad. Hope gearbest could help out and refund some shipment costs as 45dollars is like 1 fifth of laptops price.
January 11, 2018 at 11:51 am #76761How windows can kill your hardware?? no way

update:
eventually I received my return ticket from Gearbest but they don’t reimburse the return costs of 200 Euros. Some post offices do not even accept the notebook since it includes a battery, others only deliver in Europe and a few accept them but only do express delivery which costs me way too much money… I decided to sell the jumper now via ebay or any other second hand retailer.January 13, 2018 at 5:43 pm #76906Today my Jumper EZBook 3 Pro also fell into sleep. I had bought it in November from Gearbest, its the item with 6GB RAM and 64 GB ROM. It arrived already with an unactivated Windows 10 version installed. I tried to activate with the product key, but I was told that the key is not guilty anymore because it was used with another computer. Then I tried the telephone activation. This worked for the ongoing session, but after reboot the same message was there telling me Windows is not activated. So I got into contact with Gearbest support and they finally, after many instances of messages to one another, they gave me a refund of 20 Euros. A few days back from now I bought a new Windows product key and tried to reinstall Windows 10 with the new Key. The installation process began normally, but after some time the screen went black and everything except the Power key seems to be dead. Even the BIOS was not accessable like before with the ESC key.
A few hours before I contacted the support of Gearbest once more and asked them for a confirmation for a 1 year free repair return ticket. Hopefully this will bring back my jumper into life. I will not open the item because guarantee is only when they item was never opened bythe customer.
Naomi, you are right, next time I willalso buy a more quality item+
January 13, 2018 at 10:59 pm #76919Hans, feels bad for you man. It seems too much a coincidence that only now people are getting this kind of problems. Would I know some case like this before I would never bought this pc in first place. Feels like a duty that we must share our experience on gearbest review section.
January 14, 2018 at 4:44 pm #76941Hi Ostap,
I think the word must get out somehow. Gearbest will allow moderately critical reviews to stay on their website but I seriously doubt that a review that says the laptop has serious display issues from a number of users will be allowed to stay up. You will need to only write about your own issues.
January 15, 2018 at 8:41 am #76968Joe, that is right. Gearbest manipulates the reviews on their website. They sent me an email after I tried to share my experience. Basically it said the same as the response from a ticket I issued about the laptop but the review is nowhere near on the reviews section. Understandable but now I have the real understanding about their review system and how poor, biased and manipulated it is. Basically it is a bunch of dudes that post “very good quality”, “very good device for the price” a soon as the product arrives without getting to know better the device for at least a day, they are just GB points whores.
January 15, 2018 at 7:17 pm #77022Hi,
Anybody had any luck getting a response from geekbuying after sales support. Have been trying for a week to get my Pro 3 shipped back to their Italian warehouse, where I purchased, but after 6 emails nothing.
Forgive my ignorance, but what components are actually damaged when we get this black screen, no way a techie type could outline a repair?
Thanks

Well my guess it is a fried component/circuit in the motherboard. The way to get it fixed is by very precise soldering that requires very expensive equipment thus making the repair cost very high and not worthy for so cheap notebook. You can check your local repair guys and see if they can give you a free evaluation + repair price.
January 21, 2018 at 10:51 pm #77454Hi again,
Something odd happening with my ezbook 3 pro: just recently no matter what I set my display settings to the screen always goes black after one minute. Running on battery, display set to “never” turn off, if I let the darned thing alone for just a minute, the screen is OFF.
Will I be posting soon that my unit won’t boot? Stay tuned.
April 13, 2018 at 4:15 pm #141903Sorry to resurrect this, but I was having this problem as well. One thing that I learned about this is that if I held the power button down to turn off the machine, turned it back on and hit Del to go into the BIOS that worked. I could then CTRL+ALT+Del to reboot the machine into Windows.
Every time I powered off the machine the machine, or rebooted though the issue would reoccur. I SEEM to have gotten past it though by going into the BIOS and removing everything from the boot order: that’s right, there’s nothing in my boot order. The computer then rebooted into a UEFI Shell where I typed the following commands to manually define where Windows is booting from. Since then every reboot/power off has worked without issue.

Also it seems Windows (or possibly a poorly programmed BIOS) may reset the boot order. Windows updates appear to be a trigger. Just boot back to the BIOS and remove everything from the boot order again.
Hope this helps someone out in magical internet land.

My sentiment for EZBOOK is very low and, in my humile opinion, this forum could be start to separate the good producer by horrible producer.
No service, no answer, no support, no respect… maybe it’s too much for the the low cost of unuseful item.
