Hello, I’m new here
I need some recommendation, I wanted a portable drawing tablet, (but not the one like cintiqs, because it needs a pc / laptop, and it’s not really portable for me).
At first, my choice is either the galaxy tab a6 10 with spen, or the new ipad 2018 with pencil support.
While the android is cheaper than ipad, i don’t know if there is a drawing app with procreate like caliber on the android. The ipad is great, with added pencil support, but in my country, the cheapest ipad with pencil support would be approx US$493, while the android is around US$324 new, or US$275 used. Currently there is no used new ipad for sale here, but the first generation used 9.7 inch ipad pro is around the price of the new ipad with it’s pencil.
Then i found a tablet, chuwi hi12, it’s cheaper than both of them, and it’s a windows tablet! It’s 12.1 inch screen is the one that makes me want to try it, I’m not looking for tablet for gaming or 3d modeling, i just wanted to use it for drawing, because my main tool is photoshop, illustrator and clip studio paint. The Surbook is nice too, but i rather not buy a cheap tablet at that price in my country, and i heard that the screen is faulty.
So I wanted to ask, is the hi12 a good purchase if i wanted only to use it for drawing? Is the processor good enough? And can i do basic graphic design on the hi12? Does it lags? For heavy graphic design stuff, i use my laptop, so it’s not a real problem if the hi12 cannot handle heavy task.
SHould i go chuwi hi12? Or should i buy the tab a / ipad instead? P.S: In my country, used surface pro 3 is around the same price with the new ipad with the pencil, and the used surface pro 4 is around US$528, both the surface is the 4gb ram variants, so I’m not so sure about them.
Edit: I’m fine too if i need to use my wacom intuos small if the hi12 pen is just bad, because i just need the portability, having to carry my laptop everywhere is heavy though.
Thank you!

Need Help?
1981 soldered my first Sinclair computer 1K, tapedeck * 1984 build and sold IBM clones 8Mhz, 512K, 20MB HDD * 2018 messing with ultrabooksJune 7, 2018 at 8:36 am #143679My brother use Chuwi Hi12 for painting and different sketching. One day I tested it and can say it is not bad. Here is a drawing test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9e4c-2IQaQ
However, as for me, I am owner of iPad and I am not professional painter, but it seemes to me more comfortable and convenient for drawing. If you are not a big fan of apple or you don’t like the price of iPad, I recommend also check Microsoft Surface 3 tablet with stylus: https://www.bestadvisers.co.uk/best-tablets
Of course, these tablets can not be compared with professional tablets created directly for painting, but this is a good simplified alternative, if you don’t want to use PC.

My gear: iPad 2018 / PC (intel core i7-670kk - GTX 1060 6Gb - RAM 16Gb - HDD 1Tb - SSD 250Gb) / TV Philis SMART (Philex SLX tv antennas)November 2, 2018 at 4:15 pm #147867However, as for me, I am owner of iPad and I am not professional painter, but it seemes to me more comfortable and convenient for drawing.
I am owner of iPad pro with pencil and I can say with confidence that it’s very comfortable for drawings. The reactivity and sensitivity are great, I tried to make a drawing in my notebook unni with great quality paper (https://onplanners.com/notebooks/best-pocket-notebooks#paragraph-7 ) and after on iPad.
So, the sensation is almost the same and the result is similar to real paper drawing. Currently I working with iPad for all my web projects and my freelance job. Ofr example, I create logo of Paperleaf website using iPad Pro: https://paperleaf.ca/write-my-paper/
But, of course, the price will scare many clients.
