    Hello All,

First off, Big shout out to Chris for starting this website and for the meticulous reviews. And to many of the forum members sharing your tips, tricks and experiences.

Received my jumper Ezbook 3 Pro V4? a week ago after a month wait and many anxious messages to & fro with Gearbest. mixed feelings on the device. really good build quality and finish for the price ($220- Shipped with insurance AC + V4 ) and what seems like acceptable performance. and decent battery life approximately 5 – 6 hrs. came with Samsung Emmc so getting decent speeds, hence will leave windows on that as is. Wifi is decent, speeds average max capacity of my router/connection like my other Acer / HP laptops, Wifi is a bit weak once out of Line of Sight, and not good catching signals through walls / adjacent room to router but not a deal breaker.

But i need some help, In this thread i want to summarise most of the changes, tweaks a regular user would do to make the device nippy.

    • SSD – M.2 2242 ( Which brands have worked, what is the maximum capacity installed )
    • Spyware – Could not find MeiMengMeng service, but found a unknown application in Chinese which i cannot figure out (Pic attached) the application opens up as MainForm and then if i close it it disappears till reboot.
    • Alternate chargers – One that has worked well, any suggestions?
    • Back up guide – a quick guide to back up in case there are issues with the laptop.
    • MicroSd as a drive? possible? as 128 Gb micro sd card available for $40
    • Touchpad – I cant do 2 finger scrolling as the track-pad messes up the zoom function in browser. scroll is being confused for pinch? disabling the touchpad blocker app didn’t solve the issue. Windows update put a new driver version for my touch-pad ( TP- Mouse 2.4.2.2 is this correct? )
    • Drivers – Device works fine, but am i missing some drivers? not sure as jumper do not have any information on their website.
    • Windows creators update? available? what is it?
    • Physical – does the laptop dip down in the centre of keyboard a bit by 1 or 2 mm or is that an illusion? or do i need new glasses 🙂

Thank you in advance, apologies for the long post, but wanted to just have a single thread which collects all the past proven necessary & safe mods / hacks to make the laptop nippy.

Happy to be a Jumper Ezbook 3 Pro owner and a member of this community.

Hi, no idea about the mainform, not heard about it before. Sounds like you need to tweak the touchpad in the windows settings, be it the speed or sensitivity, or deactivate a few options in the precision section. The banana keyboard is normal, mine has a slight bulge on the strip of metal below the touchpad, you can actually bend the laptop if you really want, not sure any are perfectly straight.

I also have the problem where the touchpad can’t tell the difference between zooming and scrolling. My solution was to disable pinch to zoom altogether in the windows settings. Whenever I want to zoom, i just hold down ctrl and scroll up and down to zoom instead. I took a driver dump with double driver when I got my machine for 3 weeks ago, I can upload it here.

I’m too interested in adding a 64 or 128 GB micro SD to avoid the m.2 ssd hazzle cause I had bought a 2280 ssd before I ordered the laptop – too big / long to fit through the back door. I have V4 – without the samsung emmc.

Does anyone have experiences / advices to share?

    Good luck - WOLF

Ok, that’s strangely re-assuring, cannot complain for the price, but would have been good if it was looked into for future production. Bending it is an idea,  but considering that keyboard maybe delicate i am resisting misaligning it. will learn to live with it.

That’s a nice workaround, will try that and see if it helps me. would really appreciate it if you could share the link for the driver dump. did you use any software to back up your driver? or just copy the files from your C drive?

I am also considering adding a 64 GB USB 3.0 Drive, something discrete like Sandisk Cruz Fit 3.0 ( for £18) it should give decent storage till M.2 2242 drives become a bit cheaper. £38 for a 128 GB Kingspec is not a bad idea, but i dont see any branded (safe?) alternate drives in the £50 category. Anybody tried this? can we let the system see it as a native drive?

Here is an M.2 2280 Samsung MZ-V6E500BW SSD 960 EVO, 500 GB, NVMe for £185

But i doubt it will work, as the connectors look different.

Here’s a tip for creating things like single press Vol +/- functions, Page Up/Down etc.

Use remapping software such as SharpKeys or ATNsoft KeyRemapper to create your required keys.

I have single press F1+F2 as Vol +/- and single press F11/F12 as Page Up/Down.

    Still haven’t figured out a single press for Brightness +/- though….. :-/

Don’t buy NVMe  SSD since EZBook 3 PRO doesn’t support NVMe drives.

Also when you want to use Sandisk cruzer fit (https://www.gearbest.com/usb-flash-drives/pp_661414.html   price is really good) I would suggest you not to use it constantly because it overheats quite a lot. But it is not a bug it’s a feature and every single Cruzer Fit is hot when plugged in. I own one myself.

I thought you can remove all the screws on the back to remove the entire rear of the laptop and take out the plastic part in order to fit a a 2280 SSD? Might be wrong, but give the forum a quick search. An SSD is going to be way quicker than a micro SD card, unless you spend a lot of money on one.

I bought the smaller size m2 SSD from AliExpress – a Kingspec 128GB module which cost me about $40 delivered and it’s really decent 🙂

Thank you, I did a fresh Windows Install which removed most/all bugs from the system, no hidden services. Not exactly paranoid but drivers are the easiest way to capture key logs / create back door into PC’s , fresh install has increased the battery life and i am now getting around 6.5 hrs browsing, light music @ 40% brightness with breaks / sleep in between.

However i have 3 unknown devices in my device manager and its proving difficult to find the drivers, anyone know the make of the motherboard on this device?

I have attached an image of the same.

thanks, will try these out soon.

not sure how reliable the M.2 120 GB SSD ( Presumably Kingspec) is, so was thinking of using a micro USB till the m.2 SSD prices come down.

If you post the properties of those devices we can match up the drivers (hardware ID and so on from the device manager properties dialog).
