My EZbook pro 3 goes up to 14W occasionally according to hw info. The boost is good for performance but not so good for the battery. Actually wondering if there is software to limit the power instead of boost it?

    Uhm – yes?!

ThrottleStop makes slower, makes faster, limits. Just click disable turbo -done!
but your intel cpu has enough safeguards to keep your processor from harm IF YOU DO NOT OVERRIDE THEM!

the spikes mostly come for demanding programs. I found waterfox and firefox spiking on a certain page what uses a bad programmed Java something.

just compare TechTablets with idle 2.3 watt and the go to the moving page from GranCanaria and look what happens with your temp and watt. Mine spikes to 13 watt. BUT it is different from browser to browser.

To find out what causes the spike open the Resource Monitor and investigate.
