Hi, did you set up the service to atumatically start when windows login?
September 14, 2018 at 9:20 pm #146858Hi normally there is a troubleshooting for activation issues and then it will find the hardware ID to the MS server and match it.
As for the auto rotate it would seem the drivers have a custom config for this, I will try a drivers dump when I get it. If not do a Macrium image clone of it. (Before I start my review)
How is the battery life? As bad as people claim? I expect about 5 hours max from 29Wh. Mine is due next week sometime. I hope early in the week. I’m very late with this one due to using non-express shipping.

September 17, 2018 at 9:54 am #146971Hi Ohkis,
As mentioned in my original post I’ve followed Madhias’s instructions not just once but twice and the result is the same. I have successfully installed hingenagleservice.exe and added the registry info as mentioned in his post. The service runs automatically but when the laptop boots the keyboard/touchpad is permanently disabled. The automatic tablet mode still does not work but the keyboard/touch pad remains permantly disabled as long as the hingeangle service runs. I had to connect a USB Keyboard and a mouse to unintsall the service to get the hardware keyboard and touch pad operational.
Even I expected this solution to work the way it has done on the F6 pro and just to make sure I tried for a second time after re-installing windows for a second time but the result is the same. I think this probably is the method they have used on the F5 also since it disables the keyboard and touchpad but perhaps with a different config/registry entry since this becomes permanent and not trigger driven (i.e. based on the lid angle)
September 17, 2018 at 10:06 am #146972Hi Chris,
I didn’t get to do anything productive on the F5 as all I have been trying since the day I installed windows was to get this auto tablet mode issue fixed. But I think I managed to squeeze around 4 hours of use before it needed a recharge.
I would be eternally grateful (yes I really mean it) if you could provide me a link to the SSD image as this seems to be the best solution available to me (and anyone else who would decide to install a fresh copy of windows) without having to spend any more days trying to figure out how the hinge angle sensor triggers the auto tablet mode and disables and enables the keyboard and touchpad.
I’ve tried the solution provided in the F6 Pro thread for a similar issue and have also tested the methods/applications/services used with two similar Chinese and rebranded convertibles (Medion Akoya E32xx series and Direkt-tek 11.6″ 2-in-1) both using the hingeangleservice.exe with slightly different implementations but for some unknown reason does not work on my F5.
I don’t think it is a hardware issue as both the auto tablet mode and disabling keyboard/touchpad worked with the factory OS and all this started after I installed Win 10 Home.
September 18, 2018 at 6:28 pm #147006I’ve just received my F5 and haven’t done anything to it yet. Device Manager in Windows lists HingeAngle Device under software components. Driver is Rohm 1.1.1.0 3/27/2018.
Are there likely to be significant gains from using a 64bit version of window? Would people recommend a clean OS install? I have seen suggestions of spyware on some of these cheap Chinese imports or am I being paranoid?
September 18, 2018 at 9:22 pm #147013There won’t really be any gains. Teclast doesn’t install bloatware like Dell, HP, and main brands. As for 64bit Windows, it will already be 64bit. Personally, I wouldn’t bother, you might have driver issues like others with a clean install.
How is it so far does it feel quick? The Chuwi Lapbook Se for the $259 paid is very impressive and for now, I feel hard to top. But I hope to have the F5 this week, it’s in the void called DPD UK!

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30September 19, 2018 at 6:48 am #147020After burning the midnight oil for few more nights I finally hit the jackpot!
And I’m leaving a short note here for anyone who have or would end up in the same situation as myself after a fresh windows 10 install on a Teclast convertible laptop.
Teclast’s chinese language website has a download area and it practically has everything you need (driver packs, factory windows images, install guides, etc., etc.) including the factory OS image for the F5.
http://www.teclast.com/tools/nb/nb.php?t=p
For the F5, ID is S5K5
Google translator is your friend from here.
You will have to figure out the following though:
1. How to download large images from Baidu – I installed a chrome plugin and used a download accelerator.
2. The F5 Image language was Chinese – There are plenty of guides on how to install English language packs on Windows 10
3. The image needs to be installed via the EFI BIOS – If you need any help with this please message me (I’ll add some info later)I can confirm that all issues I’ve had after the initial Win10 install are now resolved and the auto tablet mode works like a charm. So does the keyboard and touchpad auto disabling/enabling.
NB: The download area has a lot of useful material for their other products too(i.e. Factory Windows image for the F6 Pro)
September 19, 2018 at 9:15 am #147021Indeed you are correct Chris the Installed OS is 64bit, I’m not sure why De Panda reinstalled.
In terms of speed it seems pretty reasonable however I’m not exactly a demanding user and will only use it for word processing, internet and movie viewing.
UserBenchmark reports Game 12%, Desk 34%, Work 17% so pretty poor but for my real world use it’s fine (so far).
Great work De Panda on finding the downloads.
September 19, 2018 at 1:06 pm #147032Did anyone else noticed the coating coming off from the plastic top cover?
Translated:
(-) On the loops some kind of crappy coating – it’s removed with a fingernail ..
(-) The top cover of the keyboard unit is similar to plastic and sold around the edges for a week of use.
(-) The screen is covered with plastic – there were small scratches. There is no oleophobic coating. It is advisable to glue the protective glass.
() In the tablet mode, the keyboard is blocked (for some reason it behaved differently when unpacking).September 27, 2018 at 12:06 pm #147173Hi guys, finally got my Teclast F5…. super late stupid DPD UK delivery is so slow. But tax-free. Anyway, I made a backup image of the stock Windows 10 English image here in the Teclast F5 drivers section: restore with https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30September 27, 2018 at 12:10 pm #147174The screen is glass, OGS but with a screen protector on it. Don’t understand why some people don’t get this is just a protect and not the glass lamination coming apart as some suggest. 😮
The lid is metal, no plastic here. The palm rest is plastic with a matte rubber finish. It will be scratchable for sure. On the factory image, the keyboard in tablet mode doesn’t register (At least for now) only had mine two days. First impressions video soon!

Would this be ok?? Thank you.

September 29, 2018 at 12:51 pm #147243maybe but you might have to cut it a little a generic 11.6″ one.

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30October 1, 2018 at 11:12 am #147294Restoring the automatic tablet mode switching is as easy as 123 with a driver backup after a clean install.
Download and extract my backup: https://www.chinamobilemag.de/tutorials/downloads/download/25-teclast/46-teclast-f5-treiber.html
Open the folder and go to SoftwareComponent/HingeAngle Device/. In there right-click on the “OEM40” file and click “install”. Now reboot and automatic tablet mode will work. -
