Hello guys, I’ve searched for the title using the embedded browser of the forum and didn’t find it, so I wanted to open the topic exclusively for this (C2E3) version of the tablet, which has little to no diffusion from what it seems.
Since I received the tablet, I didn’t receive a single OTA update, it has Android 5.1 with build 1.04_20160624
Main two issues with this versions are:
– Huge Battery Drain in standby mode
– Absimal Wifi Range
Some of the owners have some suggestions to help a little bit with this product? Is there any official update which the OTA software can’t see? I’ve read that C2D4 has compatible bios, is also the rest of the hardware the same (despite being 4/64gb)? This would allow a little broader support, since it’s a more known and supported version (it should have remixos 2.0 available). I’m not interested into the dual boot, but I’d like to have a better optimized Android with this tablet, hope we can gather some useful informations for all the owners.
Thank you very much!

That is the site where you can download firmware updates as Teclast does not do OTA updates.
Looks like V1.04 is the latest version for the C2E3 tablet.

I will try reflashing this one, in the hope the power drain issue could be solved, at least.
If some owner did some experiments to improve the tablet (or managed to flash some android version/custom roms from other X98 Plus II models), would be great to know.
Thank you!

You can install this custom firmware and root your tablet.
When you have root access you can remove the Teclast bloatware that is regularly pulling in ads/etc from the internet in the background. That might save some battery capacity.
Suprisingly, Teclast can’t “connect” to give you OTA updates but they are able to connect to update their advertising graphics file in the update application.
If you delete it, you will find that it is back again a few minutes later.
February 15, 2017 at 1:44 am #62216thank you very much, will root and install TWRP, waiting for some good custom rom hopefully. I’ve posted a new Phoenix OS version in the general thread of X98 Plus II, which is claimed to work on C2D4, so maybe is compatible also with C2E3.
If someone manages to download and re-upload outside of chinese servers, I will give it a shot after the twrp backup.
