Hello all and Merry Xcrismas I’ve already got mine. All working fine. Beside, it came with a 128GB microSD card into the slot (nice) but with a lot of Android files on it. Thought it could be a DualBoot but nop I has come with the latest BIOS and now trying to do a Windows Reset but no way, it has stopped at 49% (around 5 hours) Any idea?
You didn’t buy the microSD card? If no, maybe somebody missed it there because that is not included in the package.
December 30, 2015 at 4:16 pm #20578No, it came for free. Sure someone forgot it but it is wierd it has a lot of android files and i don’t see what it is for as the tablet has no android

December 31, 2015 at 7:26 am #20663Hi everyone!
I try to follow MadMax’s steps to set the x98 Plus up. Thanks Max for the list!
The dead pixel test went fine, but I got stucked at the BIOS-Update. When I stard the program, there are only weird charcters and numbers. After I gave in the model number, there is proper English text. But still I’m afraid to run the update since it can brick uourndevice. So I wanted to ask whether it’s normal tht way? Shoud I make a backup before I get started? Is an image of the hard drive good enough? Do I need any external devices for the update or the Windows restet, like a USB keyboardor mouse?
Thanks a lot,
Jakob

Hey Jakob,
Don’t worry about that strange characters, it’s most likely because you do not have the Chinese language pack installed.
As long as you put in the proper model number (A5C6 or A5C7) you should be able to run the firmware update no problem. Just hit next, it’ll tell you which bios you are currently running and see if there is an update.
January 5, 2016 at 7:25 pm #21312I usually do a doubledriver backup and then format and clean install from ISO from MS website and restore drivers after. Didn’t had any issues with Chuwi HI8 or PIPO tablets so far…
Did you do this with the x98 as well? Because I’m planning to do the same when my tablet arrives.
Madmax, you advised against it, but since doubledriver backs up all the drivers you need, I think it can do no harm, unless you have another reason?
Love the ambitious people over here.

I would do it that way now. There are a couple of DD x98 plus backups here now. Saves updating windows. Android 5.1 dual boot next week!!!!!!!Courtesy of the Landlord…we hope!
People will need to start reading up on the x98 Pro thread about flashing dual boot bios and flashing the dual system.

January 5, 2016 at 9:17 pm #21330It didn’t worked for me, installing with a clean ISO; i couldn’t restore the drivers after(had a device with exclamation point that didnt seem to update for some reason).
What i did though is download winreducer, made myself a custom iso image with lots of stuff removed, and slipstreamed the drivers into that ISO. Everything running smoothly, except screen rotation – still didnt figures that one out.

Some interesting reading over on the Russian 4PDA site.
Here is a link to the X98 Plus thread. Chrome translates it pretty good. Some good tips.
Nice summary of installing the latest Dec. 15/2015 Teclast software package.
January 6, 2016 at 2:12 pm #21389This latest software improves the tablet performance?
January 8, 2016 at 2:18 pm #21561Got my Teclast X98 plus today from gearbest (33 euros for customs with DHL 🙁 🙁 ). A good tablet with a good screen . But it’s a bit laggy so I will update Windows to 1511, reset and search for some new drivers. (and I didn’t know that it came without a charger).
January 8, 2016 at 9:33 pm #21599Still laggy after updating and hard resetting so i’m not satisfied, I will trying the the latest Dec. 15/2015 image in the next days and I will report if there are performance improvements.
Installation instructions (google translate from http://4pda.ru/) :
It is necessary to charge the tablet (Firmware takes about 25 minutes, depending on the speed of the stick, and 15-20 minutes – setting pervonachalnyya Winodws) and to prepare a good, fast flash: Format file system FAT32, put a label WinPE, unzip the file (the file is divided into three parts, We must begin with the first remaining Unzipped yourself) and record on a flash drive files from the X98 Plus (A5C6) -Win10_ 系统 安装 文件 _20151120 版 (bootmgr file must be in the root directory of the stick).
Boot from a flash drive (Connect to the switched off plate adapter USB-OTG, it is connected to USB-hub to a hub to connect a keyboard and a USB flash drive. Turn the plate and hit delete, until it is logged in the BIOS, the BIOS to find the item BOOT Override and select the USB flash drive ). Installation of automatic batch file will start. When the performance is over and will prompt X: \ Windows \ System32, you can write a shutdown or press and hold and hold the power button until the tablet is turned off. Then the tablet should be included and will begin initial configuration of Windows.Another thing: have anyone has a screen with 3 small blue points or a screen more bright at the top? that’s the main things that makes me a little sad about this x98 plus.
January 10, 2016 at 11:06 am #21758Hi everybody!
I ordered the Dual Boot version (presale) few days ago for 192$.
Few days later, Chris uploaded a video of the Chuwi Hi10 running CSGO. It runs about 10fps faster than the X98 Plus. Both have the same Intel CPU (and GPU) so… why does the the Chuwi outperforms the Teclast? Did anyone here managed to get it to run faster? Also, what are your overall impressions after , hopefully, a month of use?
Thanks!!
January 10, 2016 at 11:50 pm #21859For everyone: with the latest Dec. 15/2015 image i got NO performance improvement. Maybe that’s because I got the tablet only a few days ago and there’s was this last image already installed.
