my dell venue 11 pro 7140 5y10 will peak at c. 6W on battery and c. 12W on ac under stress. a01 bios atm, latest is a08 which i will update after charging.

a t300 chi that i briefly had original bios would throttle to c. 5W on batt and c. 12W on ac. it had horrible batt runtime too, little over 4h on win8.1, it also had horrible wifi range and was relatively huge so it went back. 5y10c too.

i have an x98 pro on order as i have an x80h which i found surprisingly snappy, but want 4GB ram. 2GB is a joke, and anything better than an atom realistically should start at 8GB ep. considering that they’re soldered. the dell is stuck with 4GB, but i got it for 450 usd

Please find the intel update utility for our cpu and let the utility work for you. It will find the latest driver package and it looks to solve a lot of our issues.

Go to intel website and find support under z8500 cpu

Hey guys, what thermal adhesive (or paste if relevant) are you using on your mods?

Hi….in my case I used classic thermal paste on CPU, then copper 20x20x1mm,on top of that 1mm blue thermals pad(cheap pads and i covered memory also) I closed lid. Was no more space for another 1mm thermal pad between metal case and CPU box lid ( to big pressure on screen-tested) so just put  thermal paste between…. Results I would say is COOL…. What kind of thermal compound ? Any standard will be good….. I used arctic silver 5

I have access to a 0.8mm copper, should I use that instead of 1mm?

    Hi Guys

Regarding the battery life: this week (17th of Nov) I had a major Win10 update when I checked for updates. The whole windows10 was reinstalled. This took many hours (internet was slow, approx 12-14hours). I had the tablet connected to the adapter all the time. Since then the batterylife is much much better. I do not know if this is due to the long charging (that it somehow revived the battery) or that the new Win10 monitors the battery life better. Just wanted to tell you this, maybe it helps another user

So I’ve been running lots of tests on my x98 pro. I’ve found that I often get 4 hours of battery life when the tablet is in use. With a hardware monitoring tool running in the background, I’ve found that the chipset almost never uses the specified 2w of power. most of the time its using 6w while the processor is in turbo. or, wait for it, all the way to 10watts!!! If both the CPU and GPU are being stressed. (tested with MSI kombustor, running a 4 thread CPU stress test, utilizing 100% of all 4 cores, and the msn kombuster gpu stress test as well No wonder this tablet has had heat issues, the air ii never used anywhere near this amount of power, it also expains the new shorter battery life, and unless there are limits put on the turbo duration in later biases id expect this battery life to be the same with every cherry trail processor. Does anyone have a core m i7 stylus? I’d be interested to see what its reported power usage is, under the same stress conditions. Also, I opened up this tablet on the weekend, and I did the thermal mod. I used a 20*20mm 1mm copper shim, and 1mm, 14mw/k thermal pads on the ram, and also between the EMI shield and the back of the tablet. The screen doesn’t touch the digitiser from the added pressure, however it has definitely bent the screen slightly. if you push on the digitizer a little, it’ll touch the LCD in the position of the CPU. it has made a HUGE difference to temperatures. Using a CPU stress test after 20min it had stabilized at 70*c which was the highest temp, on core 0, with the other cores being in the mid 60’s. This was at full turbo, 2.24ghz. It had no issue staying at max turbo. When I ran the same test with a gpu stress test as well, it very quickly got to 80*c, and slowly got to 83 on core 0 over about 20min, and it started to thermal throttle slightly, the tablet work out that a turbo of 2.0ghz / 2.1ghz gave thermal equilibrium at 80*c. no matter how long I ran it for, it never got any hotter. I wouldn’t expect that you’d notice any difference in performance between 2.0 and and I doubt it would report that it was throttling at these speeds. The back of the tablet gets MUCH hotter now, which is good to see as it means the mod is working well. But it never gets unpleasant to hold. I will check it out with a thermal gun later to see what temp it gets up to. I also checked out the spot for the 4G modem, and it didn’t appear that the vbus pad was connected to the chipset, as I couldn’t detect any voltage on it. I’ve taken some high resolution macro shots, so I might be able to trace where there might be a missing component so that the signal doesn’t reach there, but its not looking good for my full size usb3 mod. as if vbus has no voltage, I doubt the USB data pins are wired up.

Maybe a future firmware update from Teclast will solve this problem of GPU and CPU are always being stressed ? Maybe only a intel driver?

Does Teclast know about it ?

    Regards

Hi, what about the stress in CPU and GPU in windows? Does it occurs in android also? If not, i will be a windows 10 driver’s problem.

Could anyone check stress in cPU and GPU in android?

what I mean is could be a fault driver that put CPU and GPU innecessary in a overload state

Hope your answer, my x98 pro is comming from China.

I want to check in android, but I don’t find any application which displays the power consumption.

A quick question about the battery, I had the X98 Air 2, and in windows, the battery would keep on draining even when screen was off (as if I were using it), not like in a laptop were it drains very little while in sleep. I had to turn it off  if I wanted to keep some battery for later. Does the same issue happen with the X98 pro?

<p style=”text-align: center;”>How long does it last your battery now? Have someone done the tweak that reduce the cpu performance? I want to know how is the battery life and the performance after the tweak.</p>
Is it the same with “plus” or ssmilar?

The Intel utility appears to be mis-identifying the OS, probably because their code wasn’t updated after Windows 10 went to release.

If you go to About Your PC it will show Windows 10 Home Edition / Build [xxxx].

Windows 10 uses graphics acceleration all the time to render the UI, so the GPU will always draw a lot of power.
