You can try, but it’s a lot of work for a long shot. You should really try switching to NTFS even though it works on your PC. Some systems just don’t play nice with fat32.
June 16, 2016 at 12:38 pm #41168There are a couple of different things that could be wrong. Are you trying to copy a large file (>2GB or 4GB) or do you get the error with small files as well, for instance when creating an empty txt file or folder?
- First thing to check is the drive’s reported size. If it’s nowhere near the specified card size, you might have bought a fake or recieved a dud. Keep in mind that it is always a lower number than what the manufacturer lists. Your 32GB card should have roughly 29.7GB available.
- Secondly, check the drive’s properties to see which file system is used. If this is FAT32, you need to format the card and select the NTFS file system. The FAT system was not designed to handle large files and on some devices it just doesn’t function at all.
- Third, run CHKDSK. Start the command prompt by hitting Win+R, entering ‘cmd’ and clicking ok. The command to enter here is ‘CHKDSK /F /R D:’. In this case I’ve used drive D: as I’m assuming that’s the drive letter, if it is not you should change it accordingly. This checks the drive and fixes any errors if it can. If the scan fails because the drive is busy, try entering ‘CHKDSK /X /F /R D:’, this unmounts the drive first.
- It might also be a partitioning issue. I’ve had cards delivered with multiple unusable partitions or heaps of unallocated space, including ones from reputable manufacturers. Open the Computer Manager (right click ‘This PC’ and select Manage) and check Disk Management. If the card is reporting multiple partitions (or has any unallocated space), you need to remove them and create a single partition before formatting the card (make sure to select NTFS).
Hope this helps!
June 16, 2016 at 11:28 am #41162Thanks for the suggestion Mike but after applying the alternate touchsetting.gt file and reg tweak Windows is actually doable now. The accuracy in terms of coordinates is good, but sometimes it just fails when trying to drag items for example. It works fine when I apply a bit more pressure than I’m used to during swiping motions. Already removed the (stock) screen protector but that does not seem to change the responsiveness, at least not that I’m noticing.
The boot screen is still misaligned though, so I think the whole issue might be hardware related. Perhaps the digitizer is physically misaligned. Someone here that could confirm whether that is even a possibility?
