Hi all,
Quick update on this. I have disabled the hotkey WIN+D (minimise to desktop) to prevent the annoying touchpad gesture which minimises windows to desktop.

December 12, 2016 at 2:56 pm #58458Hi all, my i7 has arrived! I cancelled my original gearbest order after they said it would ship in January, and reordered from aliexpress. Had to pay a 19 pounds customs fee (just noticed the keyboard only has a dollar sign..) but apart from that it all went smoothly.
Anyway it is looking lovely and I am very excited to play around with it. I am currently updating windows and trying to get used to the keyboard. I keep accidentally minimising windows with the touch pad and accidentally zooming in on chrome. Anyone know if there is a way to disable these touchpad gestures? Otherwise the keyboard is really nice!
November 29, 2016 at 6:27 pm #57846I cancelled my gearbest order today as they said my order won’t ship until January. I have re-ordered from aliexpress where the seller has said he will post tomorrow so that it will arrive before Christmas (he also said he will mark as a $50 dollar tablet so will hopefully have a low customs fee).
November 25, 2016 at 7:31 am #57458Great list Wylver you really have gone all out!
I have now put bluetooth speaker on my christmas list (along with the gaming controller Raoul recommended)
I am also thinking about buying something that would let me wireless stream the tablet to my tv. Does anyone have any recommendations for a device that would do this? So far I have only seen the easy cast ota which is currently being promoted in gearbest’s black friday sale.
Anyone seen anyother good black friday deals?
November 23, 2016 at 5:14 pm #57336Really enjoying the chat here about the i7 š
Wylver I’d love to hear what accessories you went mad ordering! (and thanks for the details about thermal mod and SSDs was really interesting to hear about).
Also Raoul, really helpful info about read/write speeds. I think I will get a usb 3.0 key as well to use while I build up the courage to open up the tablet for a SSD replacement and thermal mod.
I messaged gearbest after hearing people have been waiting a little while for their tablets to be shipped and they have said that it has been a very popular item and they have been waiting for a large order to arrive from the manufacturer. They are hoping it will arrive 25-28th November so I have my fingers crossed now that I might still get it before Christmas… At least I can enjoy reading posts here in the meantime!
Is there any chance that the manufacturer will have fixed overheating issues for the new batch of i7s they are sending to gearbest? (I know wishful thinking right?!)
November 21, 2016 at 7:29 pm #57226Oh no, I ordered mine more recently than you John and it hasn’t shipped yet. I was hoping to get it by Christmas but based on what you have said I might have a bit of a wait then š
Any recommendations on where to start with SSDs?
November 20, 2016 at 10:43 pm #57194Dan, Iāve some experience with screen replacement but the thermal mod is not such a thing, I will try to make a video of how you can open it. a plastic card (like a credit card) and a metal spudger (or something similar) is enough, then a little bit of patiente is necessary. the tablet could be hot, a case will be good if you play with the tablet in your hands. For wii games i tried donkey kong country returns and new super mario, both are full playable (50fps) with good graphics, see attached picture (fps in little on uper left corner), I donāt know if real 3d games are playable. Game cube works too, iām playing metal gear solid twin snakes that evening with very good graphics. I play with a bluetooth controler (ipega 9023 on attached picture too) but ps3 pad in usb works too. I also try pc games as homeworld desert of kharak, roller coaster tycoon world. I have to try gta V but all the others games are on my usb 3.0 key and Iāll prefer put gta on the ssd, i will do that when i upgrade the system ssd, perhaps in january. I donāt have overclock the tablet to pmay, perhaps if i found a game that need the tweak but for now all is good without. Iāll also try remix and linux (mint or ubuntu) indual or triple boot when my ssd will be upgraded
Hi Raoul, that would be amazing thank you!
There are loads of gamecube games I have always wanted to play, I can’t wait to play around with emulators when it arrives. Also that controller is amazing! I didn’t realise you could get controllers like that – I will be ordering one of those now š
An SSD upgrade would be good, I might have to look into that also in the future. I bought a 32gb samsung sd card – but would a usb 3.0 key be faster for loading games off etc?
November 20, 2016 at 6:31 pm #57179Hello! Iām also watting for one. Afaik it doesnāt have dual boot with Android but you can do it yourself or use an emulator, looks like Memu works nice. Iāll watch this post because I want to know similar stuff.
Hey Katagirl,
Thanks for the Memu tip – I thought the i7 had dual boot but I think I have probably watched so many chinese tablet reviews that they have all started to blur into one! What sort of stuff will you be using your tablet for?
Hi, I think that you donāt have to do a ācleanā installation, I bought it on Gearbest too. I use it for week now and all is right out of the box (exept 2 shortcuts on the desktop all seems to be clean). If youāre not english you have to change language in settings and thatās all. Do the updates may take some days if you let the systeme do it itself or go to updates and make it manually till the anniversary update (you will see a new icon on taskbar with a Pen). I use it for some works (3d printing) and a little for gaming a lot of recent games are playables in low graphics but playable, and i love retro gaming, i use dolphin to play wii games and itās really fun, if you are aware with open your tablet do the thermal mod itās the only thing i will recommend to you for gaming. To add easily bases sofwares you can ask āniniteā to google and follow steps, it will automaticaly install the programs you have selected. Have fun with your tablaptop!
and sorry for my english, itās not my native language
Hey Raoul,
This is really reassuring thank you! I will try and get it to update to anniversary when it arrives then. Also great to hear that it can handle a bit of gaming as I have been trying to keep my expectations low. It hadn’t even occurred to me to emulate wii games… what ones are you playing? Do you play with a controller?
I have read about the thermal mod, but I don’t think I would have the skill to do this myself. I am worried I would just break the case trying to get it open. How did you get on with doing it? Was it something you have experience of doing?
I was wondering if I just bought a case for the tablet if it would provide a basic barrier to the heat so I could just ignore how hot it gets…
Also ninite I forgot about that site! very useful. Thanks!
