Sorry for the late response yes, albeit the boot.img has to be swapped/modded to load the necessary kexts. These Chinese tablets are all the same, the companies selling aren’t manufacturers, they are distributors sourcing products from the same manufacturer to repackage/rebrand.

The X16 shipped with Remix OS II and all ports originated from that. Your X10’s (or any 3G tablet) rom was finicky due to unknown modems being used, but you could get Remix OS II to work but not necessarily 3g support. Either way ou would have been upgrading to 5.1 if you’d applied it and my advice; run these devices solely on Android as Windows 10 64bit consumes 22 GB before updates , the Ram on these machines isn’t enough to support 64bit OSes

Jide really put effort into optimizing their Remix builds, they were superior to all the stock Chinese roms especially Play Store compatibility with phone apps. Upgrade issues are reversible, I was always able to go back and I did some completely unnecessary things during testing. ABD support was built directly into the chipsets so there is no way to permanently corrupt a Cherry Trail device with a bad flash unless you damage your USB port.

I know some people thought they bricked their devices but it simply couldn’t be the case. Your issue sounds like the bios setting as Cherry Trail devices had a habbit of defaulting to an incorrect setting on these dual boot tablets once an OS was corrupted. That is where I would start before completely  re-flashing.

I ported for x80 plus following your boot.img but finding the same issues as you initially. gui, camera, wake after sleep and rotation are all broken. Any advice on how to solve each of this? Thank you!

Gui – use “mtkboot” to port your stock “Boot.img.” unpack it and open “/initrd/default.prop” with “notepad++” and edit this line “ro.display.density=280” to 260 or lower.

Camera – this fix is in the rom I am currently uploading dont worry about it.

Rotation – extract stock “System.img” and transfer this profile “/system/etc/permissions/hal_sensor~.xml” to the same directory in your port rom.

Wake – extract from stock “System.img” the “lib~.so” files from the inside /system/vendor and then from the sub-directories inside “/~/~/drm” , “/~/~/hw” and “/~/~/media~” to the same directory in your port rom.

    [Update: 10/29/2016 – Gold Master:]

Fixed the last known issue thanks to @Machetekills . Gold Master version to be uploaded making all prior links obsolete.  I don’t have time to port to other models right now (nor models to test builds on as of now), anyone who wants to use my project to build from is free to do so.

Are you going to port It to X80 pro? thanks ?

Model variances may make it a nuisance, it can be done easily but time consuming.

So, if I follow what you are saying correctly, this ROM will work on the X80 Pro but not without a little adjusting here and there. Is that right? Not really knowing how any of this works I was hoping I could flash this without any modifying.

Yes. Specifically if you flash this on X80 Pro, the digitizer will be reversed but the output image will look normal. Sound will also not work but, touch, wifi and bluetooth will. You’ll have to extract modules and profile settings for the things that aren’t working from an x80 Pro rom as described above. I’m currently working on remix 3.0 for these tablets so when that finishes this 2.0 build will be obsolete.

I’m a little new to the tablet world so please bear with me. The X80 Power and X80 Pro have the same hardware (or so I’m told). Are the ROMs for either the Power or Pro (including this one) compatible for either and, if not, why? Thanks!

E6E7 shares hardware with B2N3 only the profiles configured differently, its the same story for all Intel – Android tablets across OEMs. I know because in my journey to port Remix, I had Onda, Cube and Chuwi firmwares running on the X80 Power. I was really just testing this. I’ve had X80 Plus/Pro, x16 Plus/Pro firmware running. Its all the same. In fact the one time I had issue booting ROMs is when it wasn’t based on Intel Platform.

All Intel chipset Android tablets are running AOSP for Intel Platform which Intel develops based on x86 AOSP making them all cross-compatible, with only a little work needed. When things break its usually not really broken and users are mistaken, as long as DNX mode is in order it is near impossible to truly brick these tablets flashing bad roms. In short, porting to other models will not take much at all, other than time.

Hey, Machetekills I owe you quite a bit (Remix OS 2.0 fully ported). I tested your rom,  some issues with Google services, related apps crashing and force closing, could not update either. I think repacking with x80 v1.09 stock files for services will fix this. Thanks for all your work.

It’s normal but not frequent behavior on these Chinese OEM roms. Blame Intel for the kernels they provide. You don’t have to worry too much about flashing, after charging to 100% it will re-calibrate. If it happens again just do the same thing.

First: Download X80H fastboot firmware from repository here or from Teclast’s English website (Google),  Always have these handy.

Leave it charging powered off for a full day. (Sometimes battery.manager fails on these rom. It can  even take over 13 hours to charge back to 50%)

Hold Power + Volume Down for 15 seconds. (Hard Reset)

Power On. (If the device boots, wait until home screen. Even if your usb prompt warning is gone flash the official firmware you downloaded. There are tutorials here and in the archive itself.)

Go to settings > developer (if not there go to about>tap build version untils you activate developer options). Turn on Dev options and USB debugging. Proceed to flash rom.
