Would be really helpful if you can scan the original heats ink and measure it’s thickness + any one dimension for reference. I want to laser cut one out of copper and this will be of great help, since I’d have a heatsink ready by the time I get it.
July 11, 2016 at 7:32 pm #43163From my conversations with them, I think you need to make a video where you see and understand the problem with no words spoken (you should talk about it and all that, but it should be clear with no sound whatsoever what the issue is) as they don’t do English very well. Plus dialing back on exposure or while level or something to make the screen visible will help a lot.
I’m just not sure they’ll understand what you want from them otherwise.

July 8, 2016 at 11:14 pm #42966Interesting, I guess it has something to do with how USB-C detects what has been plugged in (a charger or an actual device). Should be interesting to see if Chris will have the same electrical issues with the keyboard as you do too.
Also a link to that chat sshot. Best guess about “is not filling into electricity” – it’s not connected to the battery i.e. cant actually charge it, only power the device, which they assume might not go well and burn out the mobo.
July 8, 2016 at 10:11 pm #42961So I received it this afternoon … The device is impressive in terms of performance. Here are the issues that I see actually : As stated bu somebody else, the palm rejection does not seem to work. At least it’s really unreliable. I hope that it ‘s just a software issue The wifi seems not that reliable : the speed seems to fluctuate a lot. I can feel that the insulation is not that good : the keyboard give little electric shock while the device is plugged to the AC through the USB-C port. It may be why the wifi fluctuate. The device does not seem to be able to operate the HDMI port of my Aukey USB-C hub. I may have to find another Type-C to HDMI adapter … I will try to find solutions to all those little issues.
From my talk with So Cube on aliexpress, I think USB-C is not implemented that well for charging, so that might be why you get electric shock via keyboard. Basically all I could understand is that it’s not a good idea to charge via USB-C.
SS of the relevant bit of conversation is in the attachements.
P.S. According to the photos of said keyboard < and > are there. And well.. they cant really remove them, since comma and stop is there.
Edit: In case you’ll wonder what’s the talk about printing letters, I was really trying to get a straight answer if they can actually engrave them straight… Could not do it. So decided to do it later when it comes, plus I found a relatively cheap place that does that in color to boot.

July 7, 2016 at 9:21 pm #42863Thanks for these.
Interesting that there’s a huge copper foil looking thing for, I assume, spreading heat more equally on the back? Or was that a mod someone did themselves?
Wi-Fi looks nice, hopefully connected via Pci-e. (I think it is, as pads on top look a lot like a USB connection and are unpopulated)
Plus some possibilities for some heatsink modding and making it larger after you swap the SSD as not to open the thing up again. Sad that 1mm thick heatpipes are impossible to get not in bulk…
Edit: Also if you say that speakers are beyond terrible, might be interesting to try and get them replaced, since I’ll have to open up mine any way to swap the SSD when it eventually comes. ( Sent via Mongolia post to RU… so yeah… will probably take forever).
