Thanks for your comments- very helpful! I wonder if the stylus design/build is just bad or if it’s variable like the tablets seem to be? I’ll go stylus hunting, it seems that it’s going to be worthwhile – your description of behaviour is similar to my experience. Yes, it was in shutdown, I’ve left it untouched for a over a week now and it’s at 80%. I’ll try it in standby at some time too. You mention scratching the screen protector- is that the original one? I find that the surface of it is not very good visually, and lots of scratches now. I’ve been trying to find a tempered glass replacement but struggled to find one- they all seem to be described by the make and model it fits rather than the length and width in millimeters. I’m trying to find one but a different 10.6″ I got an an answer for was too big, the other suppliers just say it only fits the one model it was described as fitting and don’t/won’t give measurements.

Yes the nylon screen protector that came with it is useless.

    I’m looking to try this,

wonder if anyone has had experience with it – wouldn’t want it calcifying the LCD or something.

    sileadTouch drivers

Thanks, I’ll go hunting for the sileadTouch drivers. I wonder why the big difference in battery drop between our 2 machines- 5% for mine and an almost unbelievable 95%. Do you have any experience with any other stylii? I did read in one review somewhere (?) that said a replacement one performed much better.

Haha yes well mine was in Sleep Mode for that drop. I assume yours was Shut down? Still, 5% is one of the better rates. I get a 40% drop in 12 hours of Shut Down!

For the stylus, I had those annoying skips with mine too until I took tweezers to it and pulled at the nib a little. It worked okay after that but no pressure sensitivity. Also scratched the screen protector badly so I took the advice here and got an old Samsung Spen that came with a Note 3. Works perfectly with Photoline, and pressure sensitivity is decent. I hear Wacom Pens are even better,

My 5SE has dropped 5% in about 12 hours from fully charged. Battery life isn’t great considering the supposed capacity though. I still find myself reaching for my rather old Samsung NP-510 notebook than the EZpad 5SE though (despite 32bit OS, missing & non-working numlock key). I’m not yet comfortable with the stylus- some windows just minimise straight after maximising, some menus seem to randomly appear. It’s going to take a while for me to get used to using it. Does getting a different stylus really give an improvement? I’ve seen in a few posts etc. that they are- what sort is recommended to get (if any)?

This is a touchscreen driver issue. You need to install the latest sileadTouch drivers. It’s somewhere in the downloads section.

I put my 5SE in Sleep mode last night and it dropped 95% in 12 Hours! Sickening.

Nicolas, even if it’s slower, can it charge the battery during use? Last night I found another problem with it: the battery drain even when shut down! It happened a few time and I thought it’s a fluke but last night I tested and found it to be true. I charged it up to 100% then shut down, unplug and go to sleep. The next morning I turned it on and found only 60% left. At this point I believe it’s not a matter of small battery anymore but there is definitely something wrong with this device. The battery drain even when shut down so only way to keep it working would be keep it chained to a wall even when the tablet has full charge and shut down. I love the size, form factors and design of the device and drawing with it is a pleasure ( it beat every other unbranded stylus tech of other Chinese tablets). It would have been a perfect device to draw in coffee or away from desk if the battery life didn’t leave me hanging. As it is I can’t recommend it to my artist friends.

Did you manage to find a fix for the battery drain issue? Becoming a real pain.
