The Linuxium atom ISO (linuxium-atom-ubuntu-18.04-desktop-amd64.iso) worked better than the normal Ubuntu 18.04. I selected “Install OS” from the boot menu and this failed after the successful Wifi step. Then I tried “Live mode” from the boot menu, worked nicely, but selecting the “Install OS” icon fails after the Wifi step. Finally, I started by hand:

> ubiquity –debug –wireless –pdb does

This failed as before and did not add any debug output.

Yes, it is a Cherry Trail CPU (x5-Z8350 , older ones have x5-Z8300).
Thanks for the link! I will try the atom ISO today.

@flopflop: Did you install Ubuntu or did you just try it in live mode?

I tried to install Ubuntu 18.04, but the system hangs after the Wifi configuration (I choose not to connect to Wifi).
