That’s good to know, so it can’t be what I thought then. Do you have any idea why it might have just come up with this randomn thing?

I can’t even start windows recovery from bios, it’s as if windows no longer exists on the laptop.

You can first try one of those linux tutorial to determine if you can get any of it to work, best case scenario only the emmc is knackered. If you can get linux to work off a usb then try installing windows to a m.2 ssd and see if it will boot.

I would burn one of the Linux “system rescue” distributions to a USB drive, boot that up, then use the various bundled tools, such as the Gparted partition manager, to diagnose the problem and/or re-format the drive. A few common ones are Clonezilla Live, System Rescue CD, and Rescatux.

SystemRescueCD just had a recent release on Distrowatchhttps://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=systemrescue

It comes up with a EFI shell version 2.50 screen. Cannot find required map name. What are my options from here guys to get it working again, as I’m pretty clueless Cheers

I have that sometimes without apparent reason. Turn on the book and press F7 to launch the manual boot. Should be 2/3 options there one of which is the emmc. If not, keep on rebooting or off & on until that option appears on the menu. After just choose it and boot it. Good luck.

Thanks, although it didn’t work, did it so many times, same option came up each time.

bring it into a repair shop or a friend who might have more knowledge

if the emmc failed you can install a ssd or a sandisk ultra slim usb3 and run the pc from either
