EZBOOK 3L pro – IPS or NOT?

I was under the impression it wasn’t IPS like the EZbook 3 Plus I reviewed with a TN Panel. They have the exact screen, but Jumper might have switched to using IPS on later revisions.

It is definitely IPS, the exact same panel as my old Tbook4. I’ve been using my 3L PRO for 3 weeks now and was quite surprised when I received my unit. I was expecting a TN panel as seen in some reviews of the 3L PRO and 3 PLUS. So I assume Jumper released a new and improved version of the 3L PRO just like they did with the 3 PRO…

It is easy to find out what kind of panel you have, see comparison shots here

Simple test: Display a photo with black and white parts and the primary colors. Now tilt the screen away from you, now move way towards to you. The brightness might change a bit but all the colors should stay the same. If the colors change, you hav not an IPS. The colors stay on both screen types the same if you move the screen sideways left and right.

It is an excellent matte IPS display 🙂

My 3L pro comes with a BOE panel

model : NV140FHM-N62

it’s a really great panel, deep black wide angles, nothing to deal with TN

it’s made with ADS technology (BOE proprietary technology)

specs are quite close to other average IPS panel

 

I’m really happy with this computer, best deal for the small amount of money i gave to Geekbuying 🙂

Damn, why is there no clear statement on that?

I found sites claiming IPS and others (e.g. gearbest) listing “Display: TN” – but none of this seems trustable. Even if Jumper switched at some point in time, still I wouldn’t know if the one I want to order would be old batch or new….very frustrating!

Yeah, I don’t know if I’m going to sell my EZbook 3 Pro (when it arrives) for a 3L or not.
I really don’t want a glossy screen but I would prefer a 14″ display

….do you know if 2280 SSDs fit in the 3L as well? I couldn’t find any pictures of an open 3L. The m.2 slot seems to be internally connected in a totally different way, since it’s in a different corner of the case.

 

It’s a really good offer out there for the 3L at the moment, so I’m fighting hard with myself whether I should get one or not….

Hi Giovanni @thegiolly

For 196 Euros geekbuying currently has them on sale, even from European warehouses.
Seems to vary a lot from which warehouse you can get one, last night Germany was “in stock notice” only but you could order it from Italy and Spain, at the moment it seems to be the opposite.

I’m not sure if I want to get one. If they are already in Europe, I guess chances are higher that it’s an older version (TN panel vs IPS?), but I don’t know. But I’m also reluctant to get one from China, because it’s still a lottery and honestly I don’t expect it to be that much better than the 3 Pro – especially the erratic BIOS.

…..another reason why I’m hestitant is that I just ordered a Teclast F7, also not really sure about it’s display properties 😉
