Banggod claims a 64 bit Windows for the Chuwi Hi10 (still on presale).
I have asked them for further inquiry.

Stephan, rubbing salt to the wound, the unit specs also inaccurate. Its not a 1.84Ghz processor. 1.84Ghz happens only at turbo. Its a 1.44Ghz processor. They should honestly state it as 1.44Ghz

Is there a chance to get in contact with someone directly from Chuwi ?

I am debating on cancelling my order from Aliexpress. I would get the keyboard/case for free. I asked them about the 32-bit/64-bit problem, as that’s my biggest worry.

I also tried making an account on the ChuWi forums, and found this in the Google translation.

    Banggood seems

    a) to have a product manager (Emily Zhao) and

    b) to delay the delivery/sale date week by week.

My (optimistic) hope is that Banggood/Emily is aware of Chuwi’s problems and will not sell the Hi10 before the major problems are solved by Chuwi.

If not the question and the request for further inquiry should at least draw Banggoods attention to the topic and trigger Emily to contact Chuwi. Banggood should have far better access to Chuwi than we have.

It can’t be rocket science for Chuwi to provide a UEFI for 64bit OS. Funny enough, standard UEFI is 64 bit and a 32 bit OS needs a specific UEFI module named “Compatibility Support Module” (CSM) to be loaded. Compability with 64 bit OS was one of the reasons to go from BIOS to UEFI.

Further details on UEFI and 64 bit (sorry, it is German)

Maryn, I am trying to trigger Emily from Banggood to do that for us.

Mikaboshi, I agree with you. They sould give minimal, standard and turbo clock as well as the relating TDP/SDP. On the other hand all Z8300 specs are published by Intel.

From my point of view the 32 bit UEFI/OS topic is far closer to cheating. It is not mentioned, unexpected, in contradiction with the 4 GB RAM spec and there is no way to find out beforehand. You just fall into Chuwi’s trapp.

Laura, its no matter of trust.

I am trying to make Banggood aware of the problem. Hopefully they trigger Chuwi to solve the teething problem(s) before product release to their customers.

Furthermore larger resellers should have product samples beforehand for test purposes.

the CSM is basically oldschool bios, which is not implemented (afaik) by microsoft’s request on tablets. if there would be CSM all it would take to get x64 windows running would be just enable it and install booting with classic bootloader instead of UEFI

So I contacted the guys at vc Mall from Aliexpress, but I’m still not too sure.

Below is the conversation. The picture I messaged basically says that 3GB is usable because its a 32-bit version of Windows on a x64 processor.

I think I’ll go for that keyboard+case combo. It looks great.

Do you read/speak Chinese? I’m trying to checkout on their website (taobao), seems like there’s no paypal option right? And you’re suppose to pay through “alipay” am I correct? I’m using “translate to english” option on my browser so it’s a bit odd reading the stuff lol.

    Thanks again Mikaboshi!

I am not sure also. My VC seller also responds in the same tyle…What I did not ask it would be fixed 🙂

    They confirmed that:

screen flickering issue, driver issues, heat issues will be fixed. We will get new devices.

    Windows 64bit will be installed.

    Maryn,

according to the friends from Chuwi forum and Baidu-chuwi forum, sellers (not Chuwi itself) said the factory will fix and will release 64-bit OS Hi10 in two months time. I dont think it will be resolved that fast. Also, if you go to bbs.chuwi.com, you will see sub-forums had JUST been setup for Hi10 but is EMPTY. Since the delivery of the Hi10 units on the 20th Nov, which is more than a week now, owners of Hi10 faces frustration with practically no support from Chuwi. I had personally called to China to Chuwi’s customer support but had been passed from one to another and I hang up the call in frustration.

    Mikaboshi,

Banggood also updated their statement on 32/64 bit. Quote Emily “The first batch of the Hi10 tablet comes with the 32 bits windows, but you can update the system into 64 bits. The 64-bit Windows version is availablle in 2 months.” /quote

For me it’s not clear when the update will be available. Furthermore “2 months” is when the Z8350 CPU will be available and Chuwi might update CPU and UEFI at the same time. I’ll keep you informed on Banggoods replies.
