@krille-muspk Thank you for sharing that info! Can you please tell us which hub has been working for you? I have not purchased one yet, and it will be nice to know someone else has had good results with the one I purchase. I’ve been reading a lot about bad USB type-c cables. There are SO many which fail the standards. Makes me wonder if some of the problems relate to the cables y’all are using. My HiBook is probably being delivered any day since it entered California a couple days ago and I’m only two states away!

</noscript>All Orico Type-C hubs does not work, or work really poor and lose connection all the time, probably due to really bad cables from them. – Orico USB 3.0 hub with Type-C cable (ARH3L-U3)
OK, so you’re saying that you don’t recommend that ARH3L-U3? That model works intermittently?

May 28, 2016 at 1:04 pm #38914I just received by USB-C OTG adapter today, it kinda works, for a minute.
My last adapter doesn’t work at all with this tablet, even power is not delivered at all.
My new adaptor doesn’t have cable, it just like an direct adapter you can easily find on ebay or aliexpress. It has mcdodo brand, which I paid around RMB 16, which is quite expensive compared to another brand.
For a minutes, my Sandisk USB 3.0 Extreme Flash drive is detected and shows up in My Computer without problem. I can see the device running at SuperSpeed USB 3.0 at USB Tree View, so the tablet USB-C does support USB 3.0 speed.
However, It suddenly disconnected and I can’t seem to connect it again at all. The device stuck in enumerating loop (as shown on USBTreeView). I tried a normal USB 2.0 devices, it has no problem detecting it and using it at all. I just cannot connect any USB 3.0 device.
This is the same problem that I experienced on my last iWork 10 Ultimate tablet, which USB 3.0 most of the time cannot be detected, but USB 2.0 can be used without problem. I never solved that problem until now. The USB 3.0 will work randomly, at random times, at random place. At that time, another user told me that my usb 3.0 micro OTG cable is just not good.
I am planning to buy another kind of USB-C otg adaptor, since I already seen a little bit of light.
May 29, 2016 at 1:59 am #38959I had the same issue with the USB type c port with different cables (otg included), then I realised that the cable supplied with the tablet has a longer connector (the metal part) than all my other cables, meaning they won’t reach far in enough for a good connection. So all I did was cut off the rubber wrapping the metal connector a tiny bit with a razor, and voila! It works!

wow, I hope that’s all it is! Thanks for sharing!

I can use my Seagate 1TB external hard drive with no problems. I guess some hard drives are not supported.
Is your toshiba hard drive >= 2TB in storage? Because I tested a multi TB toshiba on an android TV box on a friends’ last year but it didn’t work.. Must be the same issue (low power supply)
May 30, 2016 at 8:56 am #39117Maybe it was fixed? My 1TB Toshiba and 1 TB Western Digital don’t work. Neither does a 128GB SSD in a USB 3 enclosure work. Oh and my 500GB Samsung 2.5″ HDD also doesn’t work. It just spins up and turns on and off due to a lack of power.

Ordered and waiting for my: BMAX S15 & Teclast F6 Plus
Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30May 30, 2016 at 9:58 am #39123@Chris, is your tablet’s port recessed at all? What do you think of the notion that the cables can’t quite make 100% contact? Someone said that they noticed the cable that came with their tablet had a longer metal connector than all their other type-c cables, but by trimming plastic from the cable head, essentially elongating the metal part, they were able to get things working.

May 31, 2016 at 6:00 am #39274I already cut the small plastic on the connector end, and it is still not working (cut my finger at the same time, should be more careful next time).
It is the same problem, USB 3 devices cannot be detected, stuck at Enumerating device loop. So this is my current USB problems:
- Micro USB 2.0 OTG doesn’t have any problem, will detect the device at all time and will power my USB Harddisk without problem.
- USB-C will not detect any USB 3.0 device, stuck at device enumerating loop.
- USB-C will detect USB 2.0 device without problem, and I can use low powered device.
- Surprisingly, USB harddisk does spin, but stuck at enumerating loop also, even when I use USB 2.0 micro USB cable rather than included USB 3.0 micro USB cable.
- Keyboard dock USB port will detect any USB 2.0/3.0 device without problem
- Dock doesn’t have enough power to spin the drive, but the drive does shows up on Device Manager
- If you connect a high powered device on one side of the dock, the other port will not have power anymore, even cannot power a USB Flash Disk. As soon as you disconnect the high powered device, the other USB device can be used.
- If both is low powered device (USB Flash Disk and USB AC Wireless) both will work.
June 1, 2016 at 7:36 am #39449I received another USB-C OTG Adapter, a even more expensive one. Same problem. But some devices now showing Yellow Exclamation Mark saying failed to start. I think i have given up to find a reliable USB-C OTG adapter, already spent so much money to buy USB-C OTG adapter :).
June 13, 2016 at 1:17 am #40729Hey guys,
I just got my HiBook last Friday directly off their flagship store on Tmall (they were running it for 1089 CNY incl. the keyboard dock). Got it over to my place via a forwarder for another $5.
Their new marketing images suggest that it’s running an OGS screen (yes I’m referring to the 1080p HiBook, see attachment) but I can confirm this is not so. There’s still that (rather large) gap, however the screen is nice and bright still.
I have been able to power my 2.5″ HDDs off the keyboard dock though! My Orico HDD case (2588US3) doesn’t have any issues and my 1TB Samsung drive spins up and shows up with Windows without any issues.
Let me know if you want me to test anything else! I’ve my USB 3.0 OTG adapter (Baseus branded, also from Tmall) on the way.
All the best guys 🙂

I also got my HiBook Pro from there, 1299 RMB when launching, first 300 customers get the keyboard. Too bad I don’t know of this deal, it is just 1099 RMB. I recently check it and the keyboard is not included anymore for the price, and it is a new OGS screen, same with HiBook Pro, which is better, since there are no need for 2K screen on 10.6″ screen at all. It is just wasting precious CPU power, which is already slow, even compared to modern phone.
Since you can already power the harddisk using the keyboard dock, it is possible that Chuwi already done some hardware revision inside the tablet. Do you feel any touch sluggishness, such as when typing the touch is not registered, or touching the close button or changing tab on chrome, sometimes it is very hard and better directly using touchpad to click it. It happens so frequent on my tablet, which is quite a problem.
Can you share me the USB-C adapter tmall link? It seems much more higher quality from what I ever bought, and might work on my tablet. I already rested 3 different kinds and all is not working.
How you got the tablet for just three days? Friday is holiday on China, and it is practically just two days. Even I got my tablet in 6 days.
June 13, 2016 at 4:46 am #40737As mentioned in my post the OGS screen revision doesn’t seem to hold true as there is definitely still a gap on mine… A little disappointed if you ask me.
I haven’t had any touch issues at all! I know what you mean as I owned an Onda V891W back in the day and it’d do the exact same thing too. Touch is definitely slightly less accurate in Windows than android but I haven’t had it miss my touches (almost) at all, which makes typing quite enjoyable. At worst, it’s just slightly off, causing a mis-click. I definitely haven’t had problems hitting the close buttons or changing tabs on chrome. I wouldn’t know exactly how bad yours is but from how badly you put it I’d say I don’t face any such issue that you seem to have.
The USB-C adapter is here: http://tmqd.me/h.Z02u49?cv=AAFlRTiW&sm=f56993
I got it thanks to ezbuy.sg ship-for-me. Ordered on 4th, shipped 5th, arrived at the forwarder on the 6th and hit Singapore by 9th. There is a ridiculously competitive Taobao forwarder scene here.
edit: I did forget to mention that the 1089CNY price was a time sale (聚划算)with limited units that I snapped up. I’ve been eyeing this tablet for a while.

Mine also OGS screen, I don’t think I see any gap though, just small backlight bleed near the window button. I must say almost similar with my iPhone.
The touch issue is quite annoying, it is more like the touch cannot keep up with my typing speed on screen. Also it is not really accuracy issue, since the small circle does appear on the right spot most of the time, but somehow the touch never acknowledged by Chrome. Probably just because I got a shitty touch screen to begin with, and 2K screen to add to the problem.
ezBuy is 65daigou before changing name right? Last year I always used their service because it is cheaper than official taobao agent, and it is quite fast, although I always used the sea rather than air. After reading again, it seems 4 to 9 June, which is quite reasonable timing, because I thought you say 10 to 13 June which is quite surprising.
1089 RMB is a very nice price to get the tablet with the keyboard, I hope to see more deals like this in the future, since the keyboard is quite expensive to begin with.
I think I will wait for your review for the USB 3.0 adapter, since it is quite expensive for an adaptor (72 RMB), and not guaranteed to work yet. So, don’t forget to give some review after testing the unit :).
June 13, 2016 at 5:57 am #40742I meant to say that I don’t think my ‘updated’ Hibook’s screen is OGS despite the image saying so – there is a definite large gap between the screen and the glass and it’s nothing like my iPhone. I’m a little disappointed but the screen is still bright and clear nevertheless.
For the touch issue: I can type rapidly without problems (I suspect yours may be some lag, especially if you’re referring to the Hibook pro), but I do experience similar things on Chrome as you do. For me though, I think it’s a Chrome thing though, since I’ve not experienced anything as such on Edge and have always used Edge as a result. I believe Chris has spoken before on how Edge is far more optimised on atom tablets (and generally better for touch imo).
Yep, ezbuy was formerly 65daigou. You can find deals like this all the time on Taobao actually, the Tbook 10 went on sale for 1079 yuan with the keyboard two hours on 聚划算 too.
I’ll have the adapter by Friday latest and review it for y’all, including the tablet itself too.
If any of you have anything specific you’d like me to test, do let me know too 🙂
