Mi A1, super happy with the Android One version,

and do consider getting either A2 or A2 Lite (4GB)

First ordered the Nubia Z17 Lite as replacement but was upset by not being able to install my Mi A1 backup (being 8.1 and Nubia 7.0)

If focus is drawing and you can consider using a separate unit the Remarkable gets good reviews, even though the price has jumped up now after the pre-order deal

(it is relevant to my note on MIUI8 running Android 6 or 7 though)

As I was fiddling around with my Mi5 checking the Updater seeing if it could get Nougat as I’ve heard it was about too.

But nope, no updates available – still ran 8.1.2 MIUI. But lo and behold, I stumbled upon the wisdom of the internet:

I changed Region to India and suddenly my MI Updater had 8.1.4 update available and after that 8.2.2 and with that Android 7.0 (not that any of the Nougat additions are immediately visible under MIUI)

Oh, yeah and it’s without the 3.5mm audio jack but instead it’s splashproof. So that should weigh in favor or disfavor towards the Mi 5 depending on preference.
