There are 2 USB ports:
- Micro USB
- Type-C USB
USB to Type-C cable and USB charger are included. Unit only charges from Type-C port.

July 25, 2016 at 1:03 pm #44406Windows task manager can be inaccurate:
I installed Speccy as well, and it gives the same result as CPU-Z: 800 MHz.
mikroLED: Yes, you are correct, I guess it is 1,600 after you take into account that it is dual channel. I hate take screenshots and stuff on tablets, but I will give you the numbers.
Type: DDR3
Size: 4020 MBytes
DRAN Frequency: 799.7 MHz
FSB:DRAM: 1:10
CAS: 8-10-11-23
Command Rate: 1T
Anything not stated is shaded out on CPU-Z. Hope this helps.
July 22, 2016 at 8:48 pm #44230You can ONLY charge via USB-C. A cable comes with the tablet.
Wouldn’t trust an adapter that cheap regardless. USB-C cables are more complex than prior ones since it carries more voltage and data. Many cases of fried electronics – so make sure you buy one with the right specs. Even many of the more expensive ones on Amazon are not to spec, nevermind one a fraction of the price.
July 22, 2016 at 1:58 pm #44200Maybe try setting it to 800 MHz, which is what mine was clocked at out of the box. You are probably right that the RAM is cheap and they have to underclock it for stability.
July 22, 2016 at 1:54 pm #44199To follow up on Hans comment above, most of what he posts appears to be correct. I’ve had my iWork10 for about a week now. Some general feedback:
- No stability issues but I don’t work it very hard.
- My eMMC drive is model Toshiba 064GEA – running CrystalDiskMark I get ~135 MB/s reads and ~40 MB/s writes (sequential); 20 MB/s reads and ~20 MB/s writes (4k). These are slower than the version reviewed, but seems in line with other budget tablets.
- According to CPU-Z, my ram type is DDR3 with a frequency of 800 MHz. I couldn’t find reference to the type of RAM in version 1, but if it is indeed DDR3L @ 1,600 MHz, then this is a massive hit in performance. For those who do not know the difference, DDR3L is the low power variance of DDR3 – more expensive, but uses less power. If Cube did switch in the cheaper RAM, it would make sense for them to clock it lower to keep power draw/heat/battery life to a manageable level.
- With charging, the tablet cannot keep up under full load. However, the other tablets I have also cannot charge fast enough to offset constant usage so I don’t know what my expectation should be. (Or maybe I need to buy one of the turbo charger things!)
- USB-C is really annoying despite the argument with “future proof.” The provided cable is quite short (3 ft?) and it is tiring that I can only charge it via USB-C port, not the Micro USB port. USB-C cables are also much more expensive than Micro USB cables if you want to buy a spare/longer one. I know it is the future, but I don’t want to be making early adopter purchases forced by a budget tablet.
Despite the cheaper parts the tablet is still pretty quick for what I need it to do, so I am still generally happy. Perhaps that will change if I start having stability issues though. As to whether to buy version 1 vs version 2, I guess it comes down to price. Version 2 does appear to be a bit cheaper, but you give up some performance for that. That combined with the annoying USB-C port makes me regret not buying version 1 for a bit more, but I can understand that different people may weigh the pros/cons differently.
