You need a fast charger that can supply 2.5 amps.  You can plug your Type C cable into any standard USB charger, but unless it’s a fast charger, it will take forever.  Well, 11 or 12 hours, anyway.

Download Goran Sevo’s zip attachment.  Will not only restore the dual boot menu, it will allow you reboot directly to Android from Windows.

Download the .zip file that Goran posted (about 5 or 6 posts down) – worked for me!

Seems to be a common problem.

Can’t help with the immediate problem but may be able to help you get back into Android.

    Go to this thread: https://techtablets.com/forum/topic/tbook-16-power-no-os-selection-screen-on-boot/

Scroll down to Goran Sevo’s post.

In Windows, download his zip file, unzip.

Using that exe, you hopefully can “Boot to Android”.

It may be cumbersome but until you fix your bios issue, you may be able to use both OS’es.

What is this “Macrium Reflect” of which you speak?  Actually just did a few searches.  Looks like it’s backup/imaging software that runs under the Windows side.  So it does backups of the Android partition too?  Sounds pretty handy!

Do you use the free version or did you pay for it?

I’ve got an M5F8 too.  Don’t know about making the physical Windows button (you mean on the keyboard?) work under Android or how to reduce the number of home screens (you mean sliding left/right on the main home screen?).

But I did respond to your OTA update thread.  Hope it helped.

I have an M5F8 too but haven’t run the OTA update – I understand on the original M5F6, the OTA screwed up the dual boot system, causing Android to not boot anymore.  I asked here if it was fixed with the M5F8 model but nobody answered.

And having never updated, I can tell you that the security patch level is May 1, 2016, like yours.

No, mine seems pretty solid.  No unresponsive black screens.

Do you have an M5F6 or M5F8?

Many thanks, Goran.  That worked on my M5F8, too!  I’ve got my OS Selection screen back!

Can you please post the links and steps you used to do this?  (never done it)

No, but found a (somewhat inconvenient) workaround.  In Windows 10, I downloaded, unzipped and installed the most recent “Boot to Android” .exe from here:

    https://mega.nz/#F!2pgETZxY!Yp9JXwQuVQ0xBsxO2rD6qA

It worked.  (That should be in the released Windows 10.  It was on my X98 Pro.  Grrrr.)

So if in Windows, I can run that .exe to get back to Android.

If in Android, I use the “Boot to Windows” selection on the Power screen to get back to Windows.  (I don’t use the Android “Boot to Windows” app – pretty sure that’s what caused my OS Selection screen to disappear in the first place.)

The inconvenient part: If booting from Power-On, you might boot into the OS you don’t want.  So then you have to use the “Boot to [the other one]” option to get there.

BUT I SURE WOULD  LIKE TO GET MY OS SELECTION SCREEN TO APPEAR AGAIN!  I know it’s in there, but what magic will make it show itself again?

Don’t have my Tbook in front of me but try just pushing it in again.  Never saw an SD card slot that didn’t work that way.

    Same here:

    https://techtablets.com/forum/topic/tbook-16-power-no-os-selection-screen-on-boot/

Did you run the “Boot to Windows” app or use the option in the Shutdown/Restart menu (long press Power)?

I’ve been doing the latter until now, has been working fine.  This problem only surfaced after the one time I used the app.  I “restored optimized defaults” in the EUFI, no effect.  I think the app breaks the OS Selection screen.

Hmm… what setting has to be changed to get the OS Selection screen to come back?  Gurus?
