And then it becomes tricky, I unfortunately can’t think of a solution. Maybe the tablet shows a screen via the HDMI port? Have you contacted Chuwi about this?
I’m curious about the outcome on whether you can solve this or not. I’ve messed up the USB port in te past, luckily a reflash of the BIOS resetted all options, so it’s working again now.
April 4, 2016 at 2:58 pm #31957Hi all,
I just discovered something on this detection issue and fixed it! I have both the original ROM and drivers from this website: http://www.needrom.com/download/chuwi-vi8-plus/When I just received my VI8 Plus, I’ve did a clean install immediately and used the driver package to install everything. However, today learned that the USB drivers didn’t fully work for this tablet. I’ve now reïnstalled the “Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller” (look in device manager -> Universal Serial Bus Controllers) with the .inf drivers from the stock ROM, and full plug&play is now working! These are the steps I took:Download the stock ROM from the link provided earlier.Unzip, search for the install.wim file in the “Images” folder.Mount it using DISM:Mount command:
Dism /Mount-Image /ImageFile:C:\<whateverlocationyouhave>\install.wim /index:1 /MountDir:C:\<whateverlocationyouhave>\<targetfolder>Please note that the first <whateverlocationyouhave> should link to the install.wim and the second one should refer to a target folder, you can for instance create a folder C:\Mount and use that as target location.
Wait for it to mount (I could easily get a coffee in the meanwhile). Now go into that target folder and go to the following location: <targetfolder>\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepositoryThere you see all the .inf files which are loaded with the Chuwi Stock ROM.
Now you can go back to your device manager for the “Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller” device.Right click -> update drivers.Look on my PC -> I want to choose from a list -> Search (??, my installation is in Dutch, it’s called “Bladeren” for me 😛 )Let Windows look in the location <targetfolder>\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\usbxhci.inf_x86_<random numbers, please look for the correct folder in the FileRepository>Click OK and install the driver you get presented.Unmount the Stock Rom image:Dismount command:
Dism /Unmount-Image /MountDir:C:\<whateverlocationyouhave>\<targetfolder> /commit
Wait for it to dismount.Done!
This worked for me, I can now finally use my USB port as plug&play while booted up! 😀Please let me know if this helped you!Unfortunately it seem that I’ve cheared too early, after a reboot the functionality seems to be gone again 🙁
Kind regards,
FeareX
March 7, 2016 at 3:53 pm #28330Oh does that USB hub also works after disconnecting an connecting it while Windows is already booted up? Sounds promising! Does it needs te be connected to a power outlet in order to work?
For the HDMI I don’t really have any tips 🙁
March 5, 2016 at 10:14 am #28077Hi,
I use the same driver. One thing you can try is disabling “extend battery life when playing games” in the Intel HD Graphics Control panel, it’s under “Power” (hopefully I translate it correctly, as my installation is in Dutch).
Kind regards,

March 5, 2016 at 10:09 am #28075Hi,
Same problem with the USB C port for me.
For the SD card: I use a 128GB Samsung EVO microSD card which works fine. Maybe your MicroSD card isn’t working properly or needs to be formatted? Or else reinstalling your SD reader drivers might be a solution?
Kind regards,

March 5, 2016 at 10:03 am #28073Hi all,
I just registered here so I could reply 🙂
I have the Chuwi VI8 Plus for a couple of days now, and I’m really happy with it. I did a clean Windows 10 install and installed all the drivers (found in a VI plus topic on the site needrom.com).
However, the one thing that’s not working is the USB-C port when booted up. It works fine in the BIOS and if I keep something connected while booting up, but as soon as I disconnect the USB device, it can’t be recognized anymore. I did noticed that when I keep my USB C to USB hub connected, I can swap devices and that works!
My assumption is that it’s in the driver. And therefor I’m wondering if everyone here is using the stock Chuwi installation, or also did a clean install?
Looking forward to your replies!
Kind regards,
FeareX
