I have be had the “no start/no charge led” problem about 8 times in since owning.  No combination of power & volume keys will fix it.  After a day or two it magically fixes itself and will start with just the power button.

This week it happened again and after 3 days it still wouldn’t start.  I opened the case.  It’s fairly easy after removing the 2 micro screws on on either side of the USB C port.  I didn’t have a small enough star driver, but a very small flat blade works too.  Inside, at the other end, is the motherboard under a thin plastic cover held with small philips screws.  Remove the cover; the battery connector is in the center.  Unplug the battery connector, wait a few seconds, plug it back.  The problem is fixed……………. Until the next time.

Since I expect the problem to repeat, i “nibbled” the plastic cover in the area of the battery connection.  Next time, I won’t have to remove the motherboard cover to disconnect the battery.

Amoedo, you method doesn’t work for me with a W10 Mi Pad 2.   Turning the Mi Pad 2 on with that hub plugged in and powered does charge the computer, but then the OTG USBs don’t work.  It doesn’t matter if the flash drive or keyboard is plugged into the hub before the Mi Pad is turned on or after.  No data until you remove the charger cable from the hub.  Then the OTG starts working  (it takes a few seconds for the charge LED to go off).

If you add the power back to the hub, the USB devices now get the external power.  (so a 2.5″ USB hard drive will work without draining the Mi Pad battery).   But, no charging of the Mi Pad itself.

Interestingly, if you don’t use the Type C port for power it works as a 3rd USB OTG.

I would really need a device to keep the Mi Pad 2 charging while using USB devices.   Apple Macbooks seem to do it.  Has anyone tried this hub with a Macbook?   Anyone found a different hub that charges the Mi Pad 2 with OTG USB functioning?
