I finally figured out a solution today by accident:
- go to https://www.mi.com/service/bijiben/drivers/A39
- download XiaomiSupportAssistant.zip (top row, zip file name in link)
- start installation of XiaomiSupportAssistant
- the trick: activate hotkey generation before continuing (see screenshot)
- done
Now the fn+s hotkey toggles 60/90 Hz screen refresh rate, the fn+k toggles silent/balanced/performance mode.
