    Hi Ben,

The pro version of course has French , only single language windows versions have only 1 language. You can do that and you will have original drivers and a clean windows ,which i recommend debloating. But if you want to increase battery life, i advise you to read this:

    https://techtablets.com/forum/topic/mi-notebook-pro-gtx-hot-chassis-while-charging-and-battery-life/#post-152115

+if you have problems with fans turning on during light usage, then use patched bios 603 ,so fans will turn on less frequently. Then you should be good.

I think it would perform 2x slower than in nvme slot, then maybe a cheaper one should be better.I think it would run at around 1700mbps, so its better than a sata3 ssd which r/w speeds are around 500mbps.

I don’t think that is normal that its hot while its charging turned off .Maybe you didn’t shut it down properly ?.And when you turned on i assume the fans cooled it down.At the top above the keyboard its normal that’s its warmer or hotter than other area because the exhaust is there (between the hinges ) and also the cpu and gpu heats up that area as well during high usage. If its warm then i think its okay while it’s turned off , but if its hot, then i guess its , because fast charging or idk (and also its normal for the charger to be hot ,but not extremely hot) .As far as i know there are no available original win image for the GTX version, but believe me it doesn’t make a difference. The installation of right drivers and usage of the right configurations in windows and other things can drastically improve your battery life.If you have installed the drivers from official mi website then might as well you can update them there are several programs for getting the newest driver updates. Here are some tips for battery saving:         Disable some windows service , debloat windows, disable some windows settings for example like :which apps can run in the background.Configure windows settings like startup programs disable some that you don’t need at startup.Use battery saving and change advanced power settings(for example: you can create a new power saving plan and use that when you dont need much power, during light usage , there you can set the maximum cpu frequency or max. cpu state to a lower value).Undervolt cpu and igpu (for that use throttlestop instead of xtu + throttlestop has more settings which you can play with, for example you can create profiles for performance mode or power saving).Configure intel gpu settings for battery saving.Disable “Continue running apps when Google Chrome is closed” option .Disable cpu turbo if not needed when you are doing light tasks like watching videos/movies … etc.  .Using brightness between 0%-50% doesn’t make much difference ,but further than that the consumption is much higher…… etc. Here you can find these with more details: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/guide-improving-battery-life-on-windows-enabling-deeper-c-states.815602/

Here you can download 805 bios https://github.com/cybsuai/Mi-Notebook-Pro-tweaks ,but

“Disclaimer: Use the XMAKB5R0P0805 with caution. It has been dumped from the 1070 new models and not yet widely tested on earlier models. “

Yes, ofc i can explain how to do it.First of all, you will need an USB to which you need to flash WinPE( http://down-ww3.newasp.net/pcdown/soft/soft1/wepe_64.exe ).After you have downloaded the program open it and click on the usb icon at the bottom then select your usb drive (don’t change anything else).Once it finished you should copy the .wim file to the usb drive.Boot to BIOS (press F2 at launch) and go to boot manager and at efi boot devices change order by placing the your usb at the top.Save and exit ,then you will be booted to the winpe os.Open the partition manager (red blue green coloured icon) and click on the sixth icon at the top under the text line.I have attached scs ,because it’s easier to follow the following instructions. This will wipe your system drive basically. After that open Dism++ program (cogwheels icon) at the top select the text with (R) then on the list select the fifth option above Compact.A window will pop up and for the 1. one select the .wim which you had copied to the usb and for the 2. one write X:\ (X=your system partition’s letter,ex.: write C:\ if your system partition is C … etc.) and don’t forget to check the 4th box next to windows text , after these click on the bottom left button. After that select the 1 option out of the 3.Once it has finished you can rebootto windows ,but remove usb drive and you are good to go.Change the key in settings/system/about, under windows version details select the 1. option and then you can change your key by selecting the text with the key icon.

Here it is https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IHbzkgf5WLhcOEHMwSGhF4zqrytVaywa .Upgrading from chinese to pro replaces the windows files , so the specific modifications won’t be there, right? Such a shame that single language windows version exists and sadly xiaomi uses that 🙁

http://bbs.xiaomi.cn/t-14031738 or www.miui.com/thread-11455594-1-1.html here you can get the factory image and the instructions to install it, but i don’t recommend installing it , because the original image of our mi notebook pro 15.6 is a single language version of windows , which means you can’t change the language or install any language packs.I know these becuase i’ve already tried it (you can upgrade from the chinese windows by having a windows 10 pro key,but its the same thing that i will explain without having to buy a new key). But if you want to use the program files, programs and drivers that comes with the offical image you can restore it by installing windows again.I’ve have done it and i didn’t that you can do this in windows 10.Basically what i did was I restored the original chinses windows as you can see on the websites above. Then I clean installed to normal windows 10.I had some problems and i needed to use troubleshoot to recover windows cuz a driver fucked it up.Booted to advanced settings and selected troubleshoot oprion and then system restore, then 1 option was available and i restored (it restores files from windows.old or the recovery in windows.old idk i forgot)
When it finished it was like when i first used the laptop just in english it had every driver, program and even wallpaper .. etc. , but i strongly recommend to backup your files from system partition in case someting goes wrong to prevent losing your important files. To tell you the truth the whatever version of windows 10 you use it won’t make that much of a difference from my personal experience than optimizng the windows yourself.I’m happy with my mi notebook pro battery life ,because i optimized it and it’s perfect. For exemple right at the moment i have 43 percent left and it estimates a 4 hours and 11 minutes till it discharged completely(I’m watching a stream in the meantime and i have 6 tabs open). So if you want some battery saving tips then i can tell you some if you’re interested in and i can also upload the factory windows file to gdrive if you need it ,because it’s complicated to download and download speed is slow on that chinese website.

(Attached some screenshot to prove that it worked)

(PS:Orignial windows had some modifications compared to normal for example i saw +1 option in advanced power settings where you could set something related to frequency which is not present in the normal windows 10 home , but it is unusable if you don’t know chinese.)
