And that was it. Seems like Chinese tablets are actually pretty good and it’s Polish-branded chargers that are shit and not worth your money (Kruger&Matz if you’re curious – way to go guys, make Poland proud :/).
So apparently I disassembled my tablet for no good reason and even managed to make a big scratch on a screen in my rage (not even sure how this happened). Learn from my mistakes and in case of trouble, chceck your chargers first folks. And don’t buy Kruger&Matz – obviously.
April 8, 2016 at 8:53 pm #32722Okay so I disassembled the device and measured the voltage on the battery connector… It was around 2.7V (and it’s rated 3.7), same with or without the charger connected. I’m a bit worried because the output of the charger I used is 5.5V instead of 5, it shouldn’t be a problem in most cases but who knows if this piece of Chinese crap is sufficiently protected against such cases. And it was plugged in for a few days when I wasn’t using it.
Now I plugged a different charger in and the battery voltage is slowly going up, hopefully it just somehow got deeply discharged but not damaged before.
Edit: seems like the first charger really was the problem as it wouldn’t charge other devices too. I measured the 5.5V output on the plug but maybe the wire is broken somewhere (it’s separate ac plug and cable, I couldn’t really get to measure the micro USB end). If that’s really the casey tablet should be up and running soon… And it might very well be that I judged it prematurely.
April 8, 2016 at 7:16 pm #32715After a bit more than 3 months my chuwi also died – currently I’m trying all possible solutions posted here, no luck so far. I will be updating you, but honestly I don’t have much hope. Don’t buy Hi10, seriously!
January 18, 2016 at 6:42 pm #22904From what I heard it’s possible, but that doesn’t mean it’s legal. Keep that in mind.
January 17, 2016 at 12:25 pm #22719That’s strange, for me this option is enabled. Maybe you should try and update your audio drivers (“Intel SST Audio Device (WDM)” driver)? For reference, device manager says my version is 604.10135.2747.5232 dated 09.08.2015.
January 16, 2016 at 9:47 pm #22608I have the version from vc lemon on aliexpress – Win 10 64 bit, with docking keyboard.
I have some minor issues with booting and turning off (described in this thread http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/startup-error-map-cannot-find-required-map-name/ ). Also, there is a small screen defect that looks a bit like an air bubble (and yes, I’m sure it’s not the screen protector, I took it off). Also would recommend to buy a better power adapter (has to be 2A or higher) – the original is not the best, and the EU adapter I got doesn’t fit at all.
But for this money I guess it’s a really nice device. I really appreciate the keyboard, it’s much better than generic usb ones, basically you get both a tablet and a fully functional netbook for the price. No problems with WiFi, bluetooth (tested with a Xiaomi portable speaker, works great), USB 3.0, micro HDMI (tested with a ECSee mini projector). Performance is okay, no problems with full hd video, of course it’s not a gaming computer, but for example Minecraft Win 10 Edition runs nice and smooth. Battery life is also good, about 6 hours of web browsing for me.
The sound quality was a bit poop at first, but then I learned about the equalizer thing so now it’s quite decent (although I still prefer using the forementioned Xiaomi speaker which is a great device itself and I would recommend it to anybody :)).
Overall, Hi10 has its flaws, but as of the 2 weeks I hve it I would say it’s perfectly fine for normal everyday use if you want a cheap, but feature rich tablet.
January 16, 2016 at 9:23 pm #22602That’s not the case, it was connected to the charger then.
I read the board a bit and I have to say that my Chuwi also has a problem with randomly turing off – it happens sometimes in sleep mode. And this is when the problem occured – I switched to sleep mode, the device turned off for whatever reason and I got the “cannot find required map name” error when i turned it on the next day. Also, it was after I inserted a microSD card for the first time, but it might be just a coincidence.
Anyway, it works perfectly fine for now.
January 15, 2016 at 4:40 pm #22465Okay, strangely enough now I just pressed the power button for a long time so the device actually shut down… and it turned on normally. So if anyone has this problem just try this.
