Finally resolved this, thought I’d post the answer in case someone else has the same issue on a clean Windows 10 install:
• Download and install the Windows 10 driver from Kionix for the accelerometer
○ http://www.kionix.com/downloads
• In the registry, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ROOT\SENSOR\0000\Device Parameters\kxfusion
• Create a new Binary Value
○ Name: “Orientation”
○ Value: 01 00 00 01 01 00 02
RestartApril 28, 2016 at 1:47 pm #35371I ended ordering a used one from eBay, which should be arriving today. I guess on the up-side, I will have two keyboard docks, two chargers, and a ‘parts bin’ of the fried tablet to scavenge parts from if there’s any further issues down the road.
I will keep tinkering with the fried one and let you know if I figure anything out. Since you mentioned the batteries, I think i’ll pull them out and test them on my bench-top lithium battery charger, to see if they are working. I suppose it’s possible there is an internal protection fuse wired in the pack that I need to find. Probably wishful thinking 🙂
January 14, 2016 at 8:17 pm #22352@Kamal I had the same experience with the empty stylus box. I contacted the seller and they sent me one. It took about 2 weeks to get it (In the US). Honestly though, the one they include is crap. Just cut your loss and spend the $39 US on a Bamboo Smart. You will be severely disappointed with the “stock” stylus pen. </2cents>
December 28, 2015 at 8:26 pm #20251Hey guys,
Following up on the Stylus / Pen issues:
I finally got my “stock” stylus from the seller, as they shorted me on it in the original sale. I’m the guy that went out and bought a Wacom-compatible Bamboo Smart pen while I was waiting on the stock one to arrive.THE STOCK STYLUS IS ABSOLUTE CRAP
I cannot emphasize that enough. It is NOT pressure sensitive. For anyone that is wanting a truly pressure-sensitive stylus for their “i7 Stylus”, spend the $39 on a Bamboo Smart. you can get one on Amazon (http://amzn.com/B01694XUQQ) .. I hope the link is allowed. You can also get it locally at Best Buy if you are in the US, and undoubtedly other retailers.
The only drawback is, the Bamboo Smart is a little larger diameter (feels better in the hand), but will not fit in the slot in the keyboard dock (if you bought one). So, I’m leaving the crappy stock one in the keyboard dock, just in case I forget the Bamboo and I’m in a pinch.
I wonder what others think? Perhaps others have tried another Wacom compatible pressure-sensitive pen they like as well? maybe one that does fit in the keyboard dock?
December 15, 2015 at 3:16 pm #18714I also hear the power supply “hiss” in a quiet room. I’ve observed this before with other cheap power supplies. It’s not a problem in my opinion, just cheap components.
December 15, 2015 at 3:04 pm #18712Can you link us to the exact Bamboo pen you used that reportedly does not work? I was shorted the pen in my order, so I went out and bought a Bamboo Smart stylus locally from Best Buy for $39, and it works great with the tablet, including pressure sensitivity. Here’s a link to the pen I purchased, that I can confirm works, including pressure sensitivity, with the Cube i7 Stylus tablet:
December 14, 2015 at 1:36 pm #18573Guys, can you confirm that It suppose to come with replacement nibs remover ring? Seller don’t want to settle nicely. And being irresponsibly denying. Shanzen Elle. I thought reputable seller. Sighhhh
Yes, it is supposed to come with replacement nibs and the ring tool to remove them.
December 13, 2015 at 4:37 pm #18445I am in the US and ordered from the same seller, and used Express DHL shipping. I received mine last week, so I can say I know they are filling orders. That said, you may want to request them to extend the time that you can open a dispute, and let the seller know that you are filing a dispute if it is not received soon. That’s your only recourse if they don’t fill the order.
December 10, 2015 at 6:28 pm #18135I was shorted the pen in my order (supposedly they’re shipping it to me now… not holding my breath), so I had gone out and bought a “Bamboo Smart” pen for $39 locally at Best Buy, and have been very happy with it. Pressure sensitive, smooth to write with. I took the factory installed screen protector off, as it’s too soft and scuffs badly when writing, and also causes the writing surface to not be as smooth as I wanted.
Has anyone else compared the included pen with the Bamboo Smart, or another Wacom pen?
December 7, 2015 at 9:53 pm #17887Initial Impressions:
I’m comparing this to the Chuwi Vi10, as that’s the device I am replacing with the i7 Stylus.
That said: Screen size is roughly the same, but higher resolution. Text is much sharper as expected. Weight of the device is noticeably heavier, giving it a solid feel. I really like that they did not put a glass back on this like the Vi10, as it was always just a filthy fingerprint mess. This is a matte aluminum back, that does not show fingerprints.Screen protector came pre-installed (also I got a new one with the package I bought), but had a couple bubbles, so I just pulled it for the time being. I’m generally not a fan of screen protectors. In this case specifically, a pen/stylus can be the difference: If your screen protector is too soft of a material, its a really bad experience trying to draw on it.
Pen
FYI as mentioned before, my pen was missing from the box, so I ran out to Best Buy and picked up a “Bamboo Smart” wacom compatible pen, and it works great. The pen tip scuffs the stock screen protector pretty good, to the point you can see what you wrote if you get some glare on the screen! The scuffs do come off with a screen cleaning cloth, fortunately. Screen scuffs are far less noticeable without the screen protector. I also realize I am not using the pen intended for this tablet. I’d venture to guess the Bamboo pen is higher grade, but that remains to be seen once the seller ships me the missing item. Pressure sensitivity when drawing is awesome! Palm rejection is “okay”, probably takes some training on my part. It senses the pen at about 1″ from the screen, so if you are good about keeping the pen in that range if you have your palm resting on it while drawing or writing, you’re good to go, otherwise it picks up the touches of your palm and goes whacky. Not bad though, I just have to train myself on this a bit more.Other reviewers have indicated the lower left back corner of the tablet, where the CPU is, gets hot. This is true. Very true. Even just sitting here on my desk with the Windows 10 News app up, it’s pretty hot. Its not going to burn you or anything, but it’s surprisingly hot.
Keyboard Dock
Keys are nice to type on, relatively quiet, and not as spongy as the Vi10 keyboard. Docking in position feels solid. It will also lay flat to sort of be a cover, but that doesnt have as solid of a feel. It doesnt hold down the front edges of the tablet and keyboard via magnets or anything, so it doesnt feel like it’s really secure when closed up; I’ll probably have to get a neoprene slip cover for it.Performance
Loaded up SketchUp to do some 3D work, just to put it thru its’ paces. This is a surprisingly fast mobile chip, far faster than the Vi10. I think just using desktop apps and moving through applications, cutting between an app and the start screen, everything is very smooth and fluid.Charging
This a give-and-take situation. It uses a proprietary 12v wall wort charger, not USB. Kind of sucks to not even have the option to charge via USB as a lower rate if you’re in a pinch. That said, we have gotten to the point where the battery sizes on these devices are too large to charge via USB. By comparison on my Vi10, if you’re using it while charging, unless it’s being used extremely lightly with very low screen brightness, it will be draining while charging, meaning it draws more power than it can pull from USB. I think this is an interim necessity to have these 12v chargers for our tablets, until USB-C becomes more mainstream, this is really the best option to get a good charge rate. That’s it for now, would love to hear what others think too!
December 7, 2015 at 9:18 pm #17882I did verify that I ordered the bundle including the stylus:
Tablet+Keyboard+Pen+Film. Waiting to hear back from seller.December 7, 2015 at 6:52 pm #17863Arrived today, great machine! BUT, it is missing the stylus. the little stylus box is there with extra tips, but is empty. the “cap” of the pen was stuck in to the slot in the keyboard dock where it’s supposed to be stored, but it was just the cap, stylus itself missing. Contacting seller.
December 7, 2015 at 4:16 pm #17854Shipping update: It’s scheduled for delivery to me (Western US) a day early – out for delivery now! Now hopefully, i’m not getting a box full of packing peanuts 😉
December 7, 2015 at 12:01 am #17798Shipping Update:
DHL shows the package has arrived in Los Angeles customs. Looks like the ETA of Tues 12/8 is likely to be correct!Any other US buyers receive theirs yet?
December 5, 2015 at 8:39 pm #17722Shipping update here:
DHL shipment to the US, it sat in status “shipment information received” from 11/30 to now, and I just got an update today (12/5) that the DHL tracking status has changed to “shipment picked up”. Thankfully it’s finally out of the hands of the Ali seller and in the capable (and trackable!!) hands of DHL. I hope for it to be here in a week.
EDIT: DHL site shows “estimated delivery Tues 12/8 by end of day”. sweet! 😀This goes to show these sellers pull all kinds of tricks to make it appear they shipped it on time, from fake tracking numbers, to finally a real tracking number that they print out and slap on a box just so it shows up in DHL tracking as being valid and destined to your locale, only to not actually get fulfilled for another week. I understand the overwhelming orders from 11.11 sale, but with all the misleading antics, I still call shenanigans.
