Update: I wiped the whole SSD with Ubuntu, removed all entries in the EFI with efibootmgr.
Then I installed Android, then Windows. Same error with Windows (0xc0000225) BUT!
I have two “Windows Boot Manager” in my boot list. I had two before too: one that would give me error 0xc0000225, and another that would show Windows logo with spinning icon, then black screen, Windows dialog telling me there is an error with boot stuffs. Doesn’t remember the exact message.
BUT! This time, first “Windows Boot Manager” still gives me error 0xc0000225, but the other one actually boot Windows and it works!
The problem is that even if I try to change the boot priority to the working one, it still boot to the non-working one (the one giving error 0xc0000225)
So I don’t think I need any of the above. If someone want to help, please open a CMD (admin) and paste me the result of bcdedit /v
Any idea how to fix this?
August 20, 2015 at 2:43 am #10106Got a reply from AliExpress team.
Regarding your order<removed>, I am sorry that you didn’t get an amicable solution from seller. We will try our best to provide you any support. We checked the information and supportive evidence you provided for this dispute, your claim about Windows system problem is accepted.
Generally, we follow the return policy (set on every order) to mediate the dispute. For this order, the return policy is “Returns accepted if product not as described, buyer pays return shipping; or keep the product & agree refund with seller.” (This policy was displayed in the product page.)Since the order amount is large and you want to get a full refund, I highly suggest you to return the goods. And according to the return policy, buyer needs to bear the shipping cost, considering the shipping fee may be expensive, we suggest you to confirm the shipping fee with your local Post Office firstly. If you hope seller share the shipping fee with you, you could negotiate with her/him and I will help you to encourage seller as well. But in case you would like to keep the product or repair it at your local repairing
center
, I suggest you could try to negotiate a partial refund with seller for compensation. In any case, please be aware that if unfortunately you two parties cannot settle the problem, you may be required to return the goods for the refund.
You have 5 days to negotiate with the seller for a solution. Please do keep us informed if there’s any agreement reached with the seller within this period.
Your understanding and cooperation for this issue will be highly appreciated.
Best regards,
AliExpress Case Management Team
August 19, 2015 at 4:47 pm #10056I escalated to AliExpress 10 days ago and still no update … I contacted support yesterday on live chat and they said I should have an update this week. Lol.
August 18, 2015 at 10:10 pm #10015Did you try it?
Edit: I tried the live install. No Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth. Touchscreen seems to work well. Audio too.
Found this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2265190
Will let you know if I find something…
Ensuite:
August 14, 2015 at 2:56 pm #9679Guys I’m gonna help Sylvain in french, it will be faster for both of us. Please feel free to continue the discussion in english. If it annoys anyone I’ll stop writing in french.
Salut Sylvain.
August 14, 2015 at 12:16 pm #9661I escalated my dispute 5 days ago and still waiting for AliExpress team to answer….
August 9, 2015 at 1:50 pm #9140Just wanted to update about my dispute (of 250$ CAD) for my cracked Windows 8.1. Seller answered:
Hi friend.
Good day,
Because official windows8.1 just supports chinese, so we change them to multi language,
you can update to offical windows 10. here is the step tell you how to operate.
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1hq928Kk
The password is cubestore
If you indeed don’t like the tablet, you can return back to us as our warranty.
Best regards

Then I said:
I do like the tablet, and I want to stay with Windows 8.1, I don’t want Windows 10. I don’t understand why you’re telling me Windows 8.1 just support chinese, this is not true. I bought several others products from AliExpress and they all came with Windows 8.1 for Bing in english. I was always able to change the langage to french afterward if needed. Now the problem is not the langage, it is that the Windows you provided is cracked, hacked, not genuine. And by the way, yes I could upgrade to Windows 10, but it would activate using a VOLUME license which is against Microsoft’s own term, which mean that my Windows 10 could stop working at any moment as all the others persons using KMSpico. This is why I want a valid, genuine license of Windows 8.1 and this is why I’m asking a refund to go to the store and buy it. Thanks.
Then escalated the dispute to AliExpress. Nothing to lose.
August 6, 2015 at 2:54 pm #8800Clear explanation, perfect answer, merci!
Ça fait plaisir Sylvain 😉
August 6, 2015 at 12:45 pm #8783Do you need to remove the KMS activation before upgrading? How do you know the KMS tool is not there anymore once the upgrade is done? Thanks!
When upgrading, select option to “Not keep anything”. It will put all your things in “C:\Windows.old”. The new install won’t use KMSpico, and Windows 10 will be activated as Windows 10 Pro. No need for KMSpico, you get a full working license.
You can then remove the Windows.old folder and voila 🙂
August 6, 2015 at 4:12 am #8736The WiFi is perfect. Stylus is not working automatically, you need to download the official driver here: http://us.wacom.com/en/feeldriver/. It takes 1 minute to download & install. No reboot required. Very nice.
The orientation sensor doesn’t seem to work automatically too. Need a driver for that. I used this driver to make it works, but it’s inverted. Waiting for an answer to that.
I love this tablet & Windows 10. Only bad thing so far is that it gets hot so fast!!!! By the way the keyboard, I repeat it, is really nice. Just discovered that it has a place to put the pen in. Useful! 🙂
August 6, 2015 at 2:29 am #8729Yes. This the good page ( https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO )
- Download Windows 10 ISO
- Using your tablet (Windows 8.1) or another Windows PC
- Download the software they suggest you to, named something like windows 10 media creation
- Open it, at step 1 choose “Create installation media for another PC”, choose your lang, select Windows 10 as Edition and 64 bits as Architecture.
- Wait for download to complete. Click the text when it says where the ISO is located. It will open the folder in Explorer. You can click finish to close the download manager. Mount your ISO.
- Using a Mac
- Go to the link above, select Windows 10 as Edition. Click Confirm. Select the lang you want. Start the download. Transfer the ISO to your tablet and mount it.
- Using your tablet (Windows 8.1) or another Windows PC
- Open setup.exe
- Follow the steps and install Windows 10. I have chosen to delete everything from the hard drive. Keeping no programs etc. So no more KVM. I got a fully activated Windows 10 Pro doing that.
August 6, 2015 at 1:43 am #8724Let us know if it works, I have a kmspico activated unit now to that I got for someone, if they find it’s not legit I’m in the poop. I vouched for the tablet as mine in the review had Windows 8.1 Bing. Not a cracked version. This must be how Cube lowered the price to $299, because they aren’t having to pay for legitimate keys from MS, very naughty! I highly suggest getting one from Banggood.com now, if people are looking where to get one as my second unit i got from Banggood had 8.1 bing and no cracks, fully valid license and all. Still no news on when the keyboard will ship. Has anyone got the keyboard yet?
It worked very well. Download the ISO from Microsoft Website, mount it, install and voila! Windows 10 Pro installed & activated: http://imgur.com/n79rtcV
I got the keyboard, yes. Seller kept his words! Very happy about they keyboard. Here: http://techtablets.com/forums/topic/cube-i7-stylus-first-impression/page/17/#post-8650
August 5, 2015 at 10:44 pm #8709+1 Craig. I’m upgrading right now. The “Get Windows 10 app” never showed up but I simply downloaded the ISO straight from Microsoft website. The installer is still “getting updates” but pretty everything will works fine. Maybe I’ll have to re-crack it….
- Download Windows 10 ISO
