Thanks again for your help @mathiastt . I finally found a laptop that worked with the firmware update software. And I was able to download the latest firmware version using the link you provided. So now the tablet is upgraded, and regular Chrome works just fine. I suspect that we won’t see any additional firmware updates after this.
No problem. Happy to help 🙂 TWRP 3.1.1-0 has been released at 4pda (http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=834355&). I haven’t tried flashing it though, but it’s good news that we’re able to root the tablet.
November 21, 2017 at 8:43 pm #75183I have the same tablet but it didn’t work from the start. When I turned the WiFi on it went into a reboot loop. So I tried to flash it with the firmware in this thread. First using SP flash tools and managed to brick it, maybe after incorrectly formatting it? Then successfully flashing using BeToolS but now it doesn’t boot with the error message “uninit failed”. I’m totally new to this so it has taken me ages to get this “far”. Please help! Thanks.
Did it not work after unboxing the tablet? If that was the case, you should have applied for a refund.
September 3, 2017 at 9:23 am #71438The driver had installed just fine. I have an older laptop that I can try instead of my desktop PC. Where did you find the latest update? I’m interested in getting (non-beta) Chrome working.
I experienced the same problem flashing the latest upgrade. The solution was: Removing the cable from the tablet, pressed download again and then re-connect the cable to the tablet again.
Official firmware can be found here: http://onda.cn/Tablet_Supports.aspx?id=368
Direct link: https://pan.baidu.com/s/1miJurMS#list/path=%2F
You need the Chrome extension ‘baidudl’ in order to download without having a user on Baidu.

September 2, 2017 at 1:42 pm #71359@Mathias Ok. Oh.. you have a Chuwi Vi10 Plus, is it good for reading comics, manga, magazine & ebooks because of its 10.8 size and 3:2 aspect ratio? Although it only have 214 ppi compare to teclast x98 plus II with 264 ppi. I also like 10.1 tablet but most of them have 16:9 or 16:10 ratio. It is ok, but i really like to have 4:3 ratio for reading or 3:2 but the cons is it will not be good for watching videos on it.
If you plan on holding it while reading, it may be a bit too heavy. I like the screen, even watched a few movies on it without any problems. Can’t say I’ve done much ebook reading on it – I prefer reading on my Mi Pad 2 – but I assume you’ll have a pleasant reading experience on the Vi10 Plus as well. Another alternative is the Teclast T10 (currently on sale in China only, but should surface on the usual resellers soon). http://www.teclast.com/zt/T10/ https://world.tmall.com/item/556831316373.htm?id=556831316373&skuId=3449014228444 https://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_690462.html?wid=21
Yeah i think it will be a bit too heavy with a weight of 686grams I used to have pipo t9 with a weight of 430grams and i thought it was already heavy, though i quickly got to used to it. Maybe i can get used to tablets that weight more than 600grams and up or maybe not..hehe. So vi10 is good for reading, thanks for that really need that. That’s two new tablet from Teclast, hope others release new tablet too, maybe a copy of Ipad 10.5.. Thanks.
I did a “test read” on my Vi10 Plus. It was very enjoyable. Received the Onda V10 4G (MTK6753/Android 7) tablet. Build quality isn’t the best, but the screen is great and everything works flawlessly. Still, if you’re on a budget get the Teclast P10 from Gearbest [<b>Coupon 1 ($118.99): </b>P10GB]. If you’re not on a budget, I would get the new Teclast T10. Banggood is selling the Chuwi Hi12 for $209.99 currently – currently that’s cheaper than the Teclast T10.
September 2, 2017 at 12:49 pm #71355Thank you for the detailed directions. I appreciate the effort. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get my tablet to update. After the “Press ‘Download’” step and connecting the powered-off tablet with the USB cable, the tablet would show the battery charging screen, and then nothing else would happen. I tried several different USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports without success. Everything up to that point was successful, so perhaps my computer setup just doesn’t work with the BeTools software correctly Oh well, the tablet seems to be running just fine as is. But thank you again for posting the instructions!
Too bad. Did you install the driver correctly?
Seems like there a new update released today 🙂 Downloading right now and going to flash later.
August 29, 2017 at 8:31 pm #71159I didn’t realize an update was available. If you have instructions, I would certainly appreciate them. Thanks!
Flash at your own risk 😉 These are my instructions inspired by the Chinese manual and own experience/research.
Prerequisites:
- Enable ‘Developer Options’ and allow ‘USB Debugging’ on your Onda V10 4G tablet
- Download and extract ‘V10 4G_1.0.3_ V7-0705.rar’ here (thanks to vov808 from 4pda): https://yadi.sk/d/2kmZBWYD3KxtbK
- Download ‘ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ19.key’ from here (official ONDA upload folder): http://pan.baidu.com/s/1hsCEL6G#list/path=%2FFirmWare%2F3G%20MID%2FV10%204G%2FMTK%E7%B3%BB%E5%88%97%E6%9C%BA%E5%9E%8B%E5%88%B7%E6%9C%BA%E5%B7%A5%E5%85%B7%E5%92%8CKEY%E7%A0%81&parentPath=%2FFirmWare%2F3G%20MID%2FV10%204G
- Make sure your tablet is charged to 80%
- Backup all your data – everything will be erased.
Preaparing to flash
The extracted V10 4G_1.0.3_ V7-0705.rar archive:
- The ‘Driver’ folder contains the MTK drivers you need. Install either the 32-bit or 64-bit version (depending on your machine).
- Install ‘BeTools_v4.6.48.330_T4.exe’ (you can change the language to English).
Make sure drivers are correctly installed:
- Now plug in your Onda V10 4G and see if Windows recognizes it.
- If Windows recognizes the tablet. Great you’re ready.
- Now unplug your Onda V10 4G (VERY IMPORTANT)
- I repeat DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ONDA V10 4G plugged in, but leave the cable plugged in to your PC.
- Switch off the tablet.
The flashing process using BeToolS
- Open ‘BeToolS and choose ‘Off-line log in’
- Now choose ‘Open RegCode File’ and select the ‘ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ19.key’ (Why? Because the .key file from the V10 4G_1.0.3_ V7-0705.rar archive has expired)
- It takes a few seconds before BeToolS runs, be patient.
- In ‘Scatter-loading File:’ press ‘…’ and locate the ‘KMT6753_EMMC_PUNAIER-D2-Y107-1.sca‘ file inside the ‘V10 4G V7‘ folder.
- Press ‘Download’
- Now connect your (switched off! IMPORTANT) Onda V10 4G tablet to the USB cable
- The flashing process starts and takes around 5 minutes (be patient).
- Your tablet restarts and boots the new firmware upgrade. Default language setting is Chinese, but you can easily switch to English.
- Enjoy 🙂
August 29, 2017 at 4:42 pm #71154Allright, going to order one today for 122 USD.
Sounds like a decent price. I hope it arrives in good condition, and meets your expectations.
It arrived and I must say the build quality is very bad. That aside it’s a great tablet for the price.
Did you update yours? If you didn’t and want to I can post the instructions here (not available as OTA unfortunately).

August 22, 2017 at 8:35 pm #70871That Teclast P10 is a new tablet from teclast, right? Can’t find any review on youtube but it looks good with less bezel and good price. For Fns ifive mini 4s, already research this tablet, but i really like bigger screen size so it can be easy to read comics, manga, magazines. If i could i will choose chuwi hi12…. =) Thanks for the reply
It is a new tablet from Teclast, just recently released in China. It ships with Android N. I own the Chuwi Vi10 Plus – only because there’s been custom rom development for it, which fixes the issues it ships with. Sadly, Android N is not going to happen for any of the Intel Atom chipsets, it seems.
I’m most likely getting the Teclast P10 and I have the Onda V10 4G (2gb/32gb/mt6753/Android N version) arriving soon, after the customs bill is paid. There’s already a review available for that one here at TT https://techtablets.com/forum/topic/onda-v10-4g-android-7-0-tablet/.
August 20, 2017 at 11:10 pm #70824I would consider other alternatives, but it comes down to your hardware requirements/preferences.
Teclast P10 (https://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_696395.html) you can get 13% off using ‘VIPTableta13’ as coupon code to pay 123.31 USD.
FNF Ifive Mini 4S (https://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_602714.html?wid=11) on sale right now for 106.99 USD.
August 11, 2017 at 2:41 pm #70462cessor scheduler to ondemand, now
You should write a tutorial! Would help a lot of people.
I asked Cube to release the kernel sources, but they haven’t responded.
August 7, 2017 at 3:27 pm #70241Would you mind running Sensor Box just for clarification of the sensors?
The only ones that worked were Accelerometer Sensor and Sound Sensor. Vendor “MTK”.
Allright, going to order one today for 122 USD. That’s the cheapest option right now.
August 6, 2017 at 9:15 pm #70203Yep, Netflix works just fine. Note that I’m in USA.
That’s perfect.

August 3, 2017 at 12:55 pm #700556 hours of battery life is about average for my use. I tried MTK Engineering Mode, but it wouldn’t report anything without a SIM card. However, I had an un-activated T-Mobile SIM with full-size adapter that allowed me to run the app. Screenshots are available at the “Photos and Screen Captures” link. LTE Bands: 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 38, 39, 40, and 41. Malwarebytes reported no issues. 360 Security reported no issues.
Thanks for checking. Final question, does Netflix run on the tablet? You might think “Why wouldn’t it?” but after the last couple of updates, it sometimes wont run on Android if the firmware has been modified.
I think you should copy/paste your review and post it on XDA Developers as well. It would help a lot of people.
Again, thanks in advance.
