This is what worked for me,
1.5mm*15mm*15mm thermal pads between the chipset and the chipset cover (cough heatsink), then on top of the chipset cover I used heatsink adhesive to glue .3mm copper shims to it and on the other side used Artic 5 compound. Now it stays nice and cool and you can feel the heat being transfered to the back lid. The tablet comes apart very easy and it was well worth the 30-45 minutes I spent on it. Links to the items I used below.
January 25, 2016 at 2:42 pm #23624gave it a shot even though I’m sure I had tried this combo as I’ve spent hours messing with this. If the is no charger attached while it boots into Android it will not charge no matter which charger or PC is connected to it. If the charger is connected before boot it will boot into Android and show it’s charging (it actually is) and then you can disconnect the cable and re-connect whenever and it will resume charging like normal. This is probably the strangest – most explainable thing I’ve seen on any phone or tablet. For now I’ll just be mindful to ensure it’s plugged before booting. I’m really hoping someone releases a high-end quality dual boot 9.7″ tablet later this year…
January 21, 2016 at 3:59 pm #23237I would assume this is correct because my PC has all 3 recovery options but the X98 is missing the option to restore to factory settings. Glad I made a full disk image just in case.
January 18, 2016 at 8:59 pm #22928Just to clarify for everyone that this is installed with the tablet booted into the android OS with USB debugging enabled in developer options.
January 18, 2016 at 8:57 pm #22926Yes I have it installed and very much like the mod. Personally wish the buttons were a little bit larger but that’s just personal preference. Thanks again!

January 14, 2016 at 12:48 am #22281I use Todo backup with a 4 port USB hub. I plug a keyboard, mouse and 2 USB sticks in, 1 recovery and one with the backup (a larger storage USB stick, 64GB in my case). Turn tablet off and then power on hitting f7 for boot menu. Select the recovery USB and boot into the program and restore. You can then restore the entire drive.
I had also downloaded Macrium Reflect but tried Todo first and it works great so there was no need to go any farther. Good luck.
