Hi guys just a quick update. I got a dodocool 30W USB C charger to keep around the house (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GVDVEMM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and some initial testing suggests the charger and cable works with the i7 Book, but is a bit finicky. Will continue to keep testing 🙂
January 9, 2017 at 4:03 am #60117Did you try a mobile phone headset?
I just picked up one of these for 88 cents:Â http://www.ebay.com/itm/371571425160
Although it is a bummer I can’t have stereo input.
January 6, 2017 at 4:49 am #59980You need a mic/earphone splitter like this
Thanks! Looks like that’s what I need to get. Although I assume stereo input is not possible with it
August 19, 2016 at 6:59 am #47324I got my cable and I can safely say the Apple USB C charger works perfectly! The tablet displays the battery charging symbol in the bottom right, and I can see the battery is continuing to charge up even though the tablet is under CPU load. I can see the red LED when it’s charging and green when it’s full. Once again thanks everyone for the replies!
August 18, 2016 at 9:26 am #47204@solaris Any updates? hehe. torn between a 29W apple charger and a anker 18W charger
Still waiting on the cable (it should arrive sometime today). Is the Anker 18W charger you’re talking about the Quick Charge one?
August 12, 2016 at 9:33 pm #46585So I’ve received the Apple power brick, but I’m still waiting on the $29 USB C cable :/
Does anybody know what happens when you try to charge with both the USB C and the DC in port? It just occurred to me that it could fry the tablet if it didn’t have any safeguards against that, yet it could be such a simple mistake to do.
August 7, 2016 at 6:00 am #45974You can use the Realtek audio manager to set the loudness equalization, and maybe the audio enhancements. I know there are a few EQ presets for different types of music genres in the manager somewhere
August 5, 2016 at 9:25 pm #45786I think you might be able to use the Google universal type c charger as well ?
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll probably try that charger next if the Apple one doesn’t work
August 5, 2016 at 9:15 pm #45782I’m going to purchase it directly from Apple so I get free return shipping 🙂
August 5, 2016 at 8:43 pm #45775Thanks for your replies y’all, I’ll just buy an Apple charger and report back
August 4, 2016 at 12:00 am #45530Chris, would you happen to know what voltage and amperage the i7 book is charging at with that charger? If the i7 book does support USB-PD, then it should be charging at something higher than 5V
August 3, 2016 at 10:04 pm #45512In his review he did say he was using an iVolver 75W USB C charger, and looking at the Amazon listing for this product, it states the USB C port can output 5v, 9v, 15v, or 20v @ 3A. If Chris did say his tablet was charging at 14 watts, then it appears 5v @ 3A would be where it is likely charging at. Earlier I just assumed that the tablet is likely going to take the higher voltages since that’s the closest to the DC charger output, but that may not be the case. If the i7 book doesn’t actually support USB-PD, then the Apple charger is going to output 5.2v @ 2.4A (12.48 watts), which I hope will be sufficient for charging while under load.
I’ve seen a couple of those comments on that video, and it does appear the Cube does charge at a lower amperage, but can consume more when under load and while charging. So far I haven’t had any luck finding a DC charger within the correct output specification from a reputable company or one that has some sort of regulation testing.
