    Result! Refunded in full…  Only problem is, the screen protector and case turned up yesterday!  I still want to buy a Mi Max 2 but don’t know where from… so after this rigmarole, where’s the best place to buy from??

    So I’ve had a reply from Alice who has told me they are refunding me in full, which is great (as long as it is true!). I’, bloody annoyed that I have had to spend so much time on this, remember first off they refused to accept responsibility at all, then they offered me £30 refund, then £50 refund!  What a joke.  Anyway.  Thing is I would still have preferred just to get the damn phone!

    Well, as long as the refund goes OK, my next step will be to find somewhere trustworthy to buy the phone from, or maybe not bother at all and just buy one in the UK.  Any suggestions?

    OK so update on this as I ramp it up:

    I escalated the situation with Paypal into a claim rather than a case.  What did Gearbest do? Offer me a £30 refund!  Obviously I’m not having that, so I reply saying I am disgusted with them, what do they fo? Come back offering £50 refund!  Needless to say I refused that.  I also posted in the HotUKDeals forum and did actually get a reply from a GB rep called Alice who advised me to e-mail her.  I have done this but got no reply.

    My next step when I get home from work tonight is push this into social media and also contact consumer protection.

    I’ll update you with any developments…

    Everything was sealed on the outside but no internal seal on the box (although I expected that as it’s the global ROM) plus no invoice paperwork or anything else, literally just a box in a bag.  Funnily enough a UK plug converter was in the bag!

    Hey thanks for the reply Chris!  Love your videos by the way.  I thought the same actually, I have used GB before and they have been OK.  Maybe this is because I bought the global ROM version.  If I had asked for the untouched Chinese ROM maybe I would have got a sealed box like I did with my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 pro…

    I will come back with an update…

    Tell you what guys, this thread has hardly filled me with confidence about buying one of these!  I have been dabbling in Chinese tech for about 3 years… out of the 4 phones I bought from there, 1 was shockingly bad (Ulefone) but managed to sell that at a loss after a couple of months, a THL phone decided to reboot itself randomly about 3 times a day until it got chucked in a drawer, but I’m now on my second Xiaomi phone (Remi Note 3) and it’s my daily driver, works great!  So I am not opposed to buying something from China and after using this site and watching Chris’ videos I had 90% settled on a Hi13… but after reading this thread I feel like I’d rather buy something from a bigger company where I can return it if it packs up…

    The shipping returns alone are crippling and then it makes you wonder if it may have been worth just spending another $80 on a device and getting something from Lenovo or Google or something…

    Think I’ll give the Hi13 a miss, but the Surbook… wonder how that will shape up?

    Hello all, I joined the forum as I am looking at buying one of these tablets and have watched several reviews over recent days of all the popular current large screen tablets.

    I have bought 4 phones from Chinese sellers over the past couple of years and had problems with 2 of them, but not bad enough to bother trying to send them back… but what bothers me about spending some serious money on something like this (well, serious for me!) is that if it packs up, you really are screwed!  How are you going to send it back to China and even if they do receive it and say you can have a replacement, what would the turnaround be, 6 weeks?

    Anyone got any experience of that?
