Hello to all.
It happened twice to me. It went off suddenly.
I’ve bought from VC Mall (Aliexpress).
My version is Windows 64 bit and has a USB 3.0 port
It is in my hands by one week or so. I have not yet had the opportunity to test it for the better.
When it went off suddenly, I was setting both time Microsoft Office 2016.
I was installing the software from my hard drive (powered from the USB port).
Think that suddenly turns off when the GPU requires a lot of energy as in the case of 4K? My HD powered by USB, it will absorb too much energy and the Chuwi turn off as if to protect themselves.
I ask to TROND if you had a response from Chuwi Factory …
Confirms that it does not happen with the power on?
January 5, 2016 at 7:17 pm #21310Hello Marco, i have not yet any answer from Chuwi factory, but as you and others have experienced it is the power consumption/load that triggers the shutdown.
i will post here if i get any answer/solutions for this problem, if there is no solution for this within reasonable time i am returning the tablet to VC.
January 5, 2016 at 9:29 pm #21332Thank Trond..
If I have news, I post here, too…
For return Chuwi on VC would be expensive.
Open dispute and ask for compensation would be easier.
We have to get lucky and win the case with the help of Aliexpress.
January 6, 2016 at 12:44 am #21341Well there may be some hope for the device. After recharging and discharging the battery about 5 times, I can no longer get 4K video to power off the device.
Furmark still does it easily though, which may not be a surprise since it draws over 8 Watts.
January 6, 2016 at 1:43 pm #21386I have the same problem and now I’m trying to test when setting the power saving mode to ‘never’ for all events (except turn off the lid it will go to sleep mode). I will report you guys if I get something.
January 6, 2016 at 3:55 pm #21397I also noticed that the battery keeps getting better and better each charge. I have over 7 hours screen on time on 1 charge just of now (around the 8th cycle)
Will also try to look if i can get it to shut down while playing cod 4 all the way from 15 procent to 1-2
January 6, 2016 at 5:17 pm #21401I think the problem is from hibernation and it’s solved by applying a command
Turn hibernation off: powercfg /h off
and it can turn back on: powercfg /h on
However, now I’m not sure whether the tablet’s going to full sleep mode because it’s very quick to wake up and access to desktop

Can you explain better what you mean … please?
January 7, 2016 at 10:21 am #21457In my case, the problem is that when the tablet goes into sleep mode (after waiting for 5 min, my set delay) it actually do “turning off the tablet” whether the battery is charged or not, so this may be not the same issue, “turning off randomly”, as found in your case (apologize if I misunderstood).
I google my problem and found that this may be from the hibernation problem of the device and can be solved by disabling the hibernation mode ( the command I mentioned above, need to use cmd with admin authorization). I did it and it has worked since then. However, it seems to be just “turning off the screen” because when pressing the power button, touching the screen or moving a mouse the tablet restores to the normal state super quick. I also tested the battery consumption by leaving my tablet overnight (approx. 7 hr) and found that the battery decreases from 100% to 86%.
Note. I re-flash the bios (v200) of my tablet for installing the 64bit windows and not sure your version which maybe encounter different problem. I hope Chuwi will release a firmware to solve this problem soon.
Not sure this is clear enough? feel free to ask.
January 9, 2016 at 2:56 am #21623Found a way to play offline 4K. MPV with the option hwdec=auto plays 4K flawlessly.

Can you explain?
You have found a way to disable the 4K or you can change a parameter?
What is the path?
January 9, 2016 at 3:18 pm #21671Removed from package, system booted , windows seemed fine. Shut down thru start menu.
Tried several hours later when I had time to check things more thoroughly and it will
not boot. Charge it over night and it still will not boot. I hooked up a keyboard
and was able to get into BIOS, but cannot see the problem. Ant suggestions??
ThanksJanuary 9, 2016 at 3:50 pm #21673Yeah.
Send it back and don’t buy another hi10.
I had to do the same. They are buggy poorly constructed and are not worth the cheap asking price.
I never made it pass 30 mins of usage with out some kind of problem. Ie freeze. Wifi problems. Usb not working.
Still looking for the fabled good Chinese tablet.
Asked for help a few times and got no response. Guess everyone was busy trying to get there tablet working.
January 9, 2016 at 4:20 pm #21676Just wanna report some configurations that I have experienced.
- I updated the display adaptor driver (in device manager) and it seems to work fine (only test with youtube videos at the HD 1080 resolution).
- Fail updating the Sensor Bosh Accelerometer because it only works in the vertical direction, need to roll back to the original driver.
- Shut down and Restart are working only in the tablet mode while in desktop mode it took forever.
- When the tablet is shutting down it needs at least approximately 25-30 sec to complete switching off. After that it’s allowed to press the button to turn on.
- It needs to press and hold the button at least 3-4 sec to turn on after shutting down.
- Sleep mode is not working with my tablet, so I have to change to hibernation mode by setting in control panel ->system and security->power options-> Choose what closing the lid does -> All drop down menu are set to hibernate, see the attached picture. By these setting, when the tablet hibernates it needs to press the power button for 2-3 sec to log-in and it takes about 10 sec to get back to the log-in screen (hibernation does completely deep sleep ), and you will get your programs and apps running as the previous state.
- Note my table was updated the firmware(v200) and installed windows 64 bit by myself as suggested in the forum somewhere and it works fine.

Hoping this would help break my tether to the desk, guess not… -
