April 22, 2016 at 5:25 pm #34696I have the same issue. I’ve bought my Chuwi hi8 pro from gearbest.
A tip if you don’t care about Windows:
Somebody on needrom.com posted an android only ROM. I’ve tried this ROM and it doesn’t have this issue. (http://www.needrom.com/download/chuwi-hi8-pro-dual-os/)
Edit: 2 days later, battery drain/no wake also started with the android only ROM.
April 22, 2016 at 5:54 pm #34700I tried it yesterday and it did not help. Same problem….
April 23, 2016 at 1:55 am #34736How do you check BIOS version?
I left my tablet on safe mode overnight and it didn’t lock up.
April 23, 2016 at 7:28 am #34752Together with the fail to wake from deep sleep, i noticed a battery drain. My device had this waking up issue almost every time I dare to leave it alone for a while. Even while charging. This is how i was able to proove it that it was having battery drain.( In battery stats the charge level was lower after reboot than before reboot).
April 23, 2016 at 10:14 am #34767I have just uploaded problem with Chuwi HI8 pro on youtube…have a look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FVkQJi90PQ&feature=youtu.be
April 23, 2016 at 7:00 pm #34816Due to these sorts of issues with the tablet, I disabled hibernation and I don’t shut it down at all anymore. Only restarts needed for windows updates. I lock the screen and let it sleep. I just need to make sure not to let battery drain too much, so I charge it once a day or so.
If your battery goes below 40%, it’s a surefire way for it to randomly shut down or if you don’t charge it before leaving it, not to wake up.
As a note I’m using single OS (Win 10 Home) second batch tablet, also CW1513.
Your problem tells me that they didn’t solve power issues in the third batch of tablets either. Patiently waiting on Chris’ review of Dual OS version 🙂April 23, 2016 at 8:53 pm #34834i tried to make a logcat. but i suspect it never goes into deep sleep when doing a logcat over adb. bummer.
April 24, 2016 at 1:15 am #34845It never happens when on charger. I’ve resorted to using NoSleep.
April 24, 2016 at 8:48 am #34867How am I supposed to wake it up when this happens? Wait for the whole battery to drain? Is there no reset function?
April 24, 2016 at 9:24 am #34873Press power button longer to turn it off. More on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FVkQJi90PQ&feature=youtu.be
April 24, 2016 at 8:12 pm #34930What can we do about it ?
What if we start complaining and asking for a fix in their forum (http://forum.chuwi.com/forum.php?gid=38)? Would they respond to that ?How are the resellers responding ?(Gearbest, Banggood,…) Can we put pressure on them to make Chuwi fix this ? I guess they don’t like bad reviews in the first place…April 24, 2016 at 10:51 pm #34942There are two possibilities:
1) Chuwi knows what is going on, but they have different priorities with their engineers and they are putting them on constantly new projects without going back to debug the old ones.
2) Chuwi knows what is going on, but their engineers don’t know how to solve the problems and their PR are being told not to admit that they’re at fault as that might bring worse publicity than whiny users can. What I like about Chuwi unlike the situation with resellers is that I haven’t seen censorship on their forum (so far, at least). People can whine as much as they like. I noticed that resellers (which I will not name here) are not publishing negative reviews so the sales won’t suffer. I bet everyone else noticed this elephant in the room too.
