Since it is happening on Android and Windows, it likely that it is a BIOS problem.
This might get hopefully fixed with an update.
It would be a very bad situation if it a combination of BIOS and a faulty hardware component.
Sending the tablet back to Gearbest is expensive.Verdran is right, so i think that we might have all invested in a Paperweight. 🙁
Still we schould try to contact Chuwi via the Chuwi Forum.April 25, 2016 at 7:45 pm #35038Even their forum is junk. I can’t activate my account. The activation email, i received contained a bunch of weird characters and no link to click. Probably it was in Chinese. Until now i failed to make it readable and clickable. Grrr frustration with Chuwi is growing.
April 25, 2016 at 8:01 pm #35043I’m not sure that it’s bios. My screenshot shows at least a serious battery drain issue in android system. You’d expect it to be between 5and15% on a normal functioning device.

1. Please press the power button for 10 seconds to see whether it can turn on or not. If it cannot still turn on, please get it charged and press the power button 3 times and then press the power button for 10 seconds to see whether it can turn on. Please check whether the LED flashes, if it does not flash, please get it charged for 30 minutes and then press the power button for 10 seconds.
2. Try to change a charger
3. Hold down the power button for 15 second. If Chuwi has some update, they will upload files to their Official Forum.
You can download firmware, bios, driver, system, tutorial from Chuwi Official Forum.
April 26, 2016 at 7:57 am #35105Hello Emily,
are you an admin or moderator in the Chuwi Forum?
We don’t have a problem turning on the device on.
The problem is that if the device gets into deep sleep, it doesn’t wake up when the power button is pressed.
It doesn’t matter if it is on Android or Windows.
The device has to be restarted with a hard power reset by holding the power button for about 10 seconds.
The problem can occur afer a few minutes or a few hours. It is reproducible every time.
Please inform the Chuwi engineers about the problem and release a stable bios file.
We would be very grateful to have a working device. At the moment the device is useless.April 26, 2016 at 8:01 am #35106@esjay
we schould try the always on app that someone mentioned, so that the device doesn’t go to deep sleep mode.
Then we schould turn of device for 1-2 days and see if it is a constatn battery drain or an abrupt drain.
This way we can seey if it is a battery problem.April 29, 2016 at 4:31 pm #35557Just wanted to add that my Hi8 Pro dual boot, received from Gearbest last week, is having the same failure to wake issue. I’ve only noticed it in Android, not Windows. Battery drain is also pretty severe in Android as well. I have the dual boot Hi8 (Windows 10 / Kitkat) as well which has none of these problems. Contemplating which one to keep. It would definitely be the Pro if it weren’t for the wake issue. I have a week to decide before my return window on the Hi8 closes. Hopefully someone finds a solution or Chuwi issues a fix by then.
May 3, 2016 at 7:58 am #35892someone on the chuwi forum seems to have twrp recovery working. interesting.
May 3, 2016 at 9:16 pm #35963The sleep issue with the Hi8 Pro in android seems to be the WI-FI. Download a wi-fi widget and turn wifi off before you press the sleep button and it wakes up 100% of the time (at least on my tablet). If it hangs up for you, reboot to android and if your wifi is ON upon reboot, it means you forgot to turn it off (happened to me a few times). Just remember to turn off wi-fi before pressing the sleep button.
May 6, 2016 at 8:39 am #36247So i assume the wifi drivers are borked. Unfortunately i am not skilled enough to compile a new wifi driver. It might be doable, but only if the source is available of course.
May 6, 2016 at 10:08 am #36253You can try an one click root app called Kingroot.
KingRoot is a root tool for “lazy people” who just want to get root access but don’t want to flash any third party Recovery into their lovely device. It can work on almost all device from Android 2.x – 5.0. Working of KingRoot based on system exploit. The most suitable Root strategy will be deployed from cloud to your device according to your ROM information. So, it’s necessary to keep net connection during root process.
May it help you.
May 7, 2016 at 12:28 pm #36353Yeh, the WiFi has been the Achilles’s heel of Intel on android with this chip. I hope chiwi fixes it on their update but this tablet has been great for me. ? I hope Intel don’t kill their mobile project 100%. I really like their work especially this dual boot with windows 10 and android.
May 17, 2016 at 12:31 pm #37688Thats basicly the same that Green Power does. It switches off WiFi after the screen is turned off and re-enables WiFi if you wake the device again.
