very interesting, thanks for posting! Haven’t really had a chance to crack mine open yet. Assuming the battery is connected via a normal plug (not soldered?). Probably won’t be worth replacing the battery vs buying something new in a couple years when the battery dies, but good to know it’s possible I guess.
July 17, 2017 at 4:20 pm #69361Awesome, going to try this when i get home! Thanks for sharing! Anyone noticed decreased battery life since applying the change?
July 14, 2017 at 2:19 pm #69232Even though others have said their LED changes to green, I can 100% guarantee mine stays red. Even after charging all night, at 100% and the notebook and charger are stone cold. If you are worried your battery is being over charged and damaged, stick a multimeter in the battery terminals. Safe maximum voltage is 4.2V, anything over that is damaging it. There is a over charge protection circuit in the battery itself, in between the plug and the battery cells, underneath the black plastic. If it is being overcharged, that’s what needs to be replaced – but I highly doubt it.
Nice, thank you. And yeah, I was mainly going off excess heat as well. Neither the outlet nor the battery felt warm at all even after all night charging, so I wasn’t overly concerned. I think for $219, I’ll just carry on as normal and hope for the best!
July 13, 2017 at 11:00 pm #69204Thanks so much I really appreciate your help. Between you and Michael I’m definitely sold. I’m sure this will be helpful to others as well. I’ll likely order within the next few days and make a post/review when it arrives.
Sure thing, I hope you can find a good deal on it! Definitely search around on all the sites (gearbest, geekbuying, etc) and see what is out there. Even at $250-$275, I think it’s a good deal. $300 would probably be my limit before I at least did a hard look around at other options that might be a little more but have better specs.
July 13, 2017 at 8:00 pm #69191Does anyone with more advanced tech knowledge than myself know of a way to measure if it is still sending charge to the battery after it is full? I really don’t want to kill this battery straight away by not taking it off the charger immediately. I always leave it to charge when I’m not going to be using it (overnight, leaving the house, etc).
July 13, 2017 at 7:53 pm #69189So somehow my big response to you was removed or accidentally deleted I guess. I got a message that you replied asking about the hinge and screen though. Not sure whats up with this forum, probably a bug or something. As for the hinge, it feels very very solid. I would not expect the hinge itself to fail in the near future. The only thing that is always a possibility is the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard that runs through that hinge. Depending on how durable it is and how it is routed, that can always crack in half over thousands of times flexing with the open/close motion. Again that’s pretty much all laptops though and certainly not exclusive to this one.
As for the screen itself, I second Michael’s comment. I think it ‘s a great screen. My work computer is a dell 15 inch laptop with a matte 720p screen. The jumper blows that thing out of the water, and my Dell sells for 3 times what the jumper costs. Tough to compare the screen specifically to that of a macbook as that’s a glossy screen with very vivid colors, but you will not be disappointed by the screen whatsoever. It’s amazing to me how far screens and tech in general has come and how low the price is sinking.
July 8, 2017 at 2:13 am #68912Thanks this is helpful. I have a Chromebook that has an LED next to the charging port, and it is orange while charging and turns green when at 100%. I mainly thought it was weird that when it’s plugged in at 100% charged, it still says charging 100% instead of “fully charged.” I’m not sure if there is actually a difference but I just would worry about overcharging if it is still trying to charge it when it’s aat 100% and damaging the battery. Going to try to run it all the way down to 0 somehow, will probably have to be outside of windows then. Maybe just leave it in the bios until it dies once the battery is low?
oh and i have no idea what that middle LED is for either. The only thing i can think of is how old computers with the spinning disk drives used to have an HDD indicator light too. but I have not seen this light come on during any activity including a virus scan.
July 7, 2017 at 2:46 pm #68845hey quick question for anyone with an ezbook 3 pro. I just got mine a few days ago and have been using it lightly (just some video streaming and web browsing). I ran the battery down pretty low and left it to charge overnight. I noticed when i plugged it in that the little red LED comes on. I guess I was under the assumption that the LED would change colors once it’s charged, but i checked on it this morning and the light was still red. The battery meter says it is plugged in and charging but that it is also at 100%. Is this normal behavior or should it just say Fully Charged 100% like my windows 7 laptops? This is my first win 10 pc so I wasn’t sure and I don’t want it to overcharge the battery and kill it prematurely.
June 14, 2017 at 3:21 am #68149Curious why the non-dual band version is still available on GearBest for $298? I haven’t ordered many things from these sites but it doesn’t make sense to me why they’d offer a less desirable version at a higher price than their flash sale of the updated version. I just ordered one as part of their flash sale for $219. I really hope this isn’t a situation like one of the previous ezbooks where they switched to plastic from alloy part of the way through the model run to keep costs down.
