For whatever its worth, my dual boot is working ok with the exception of the SD direct access issue which I think it’s more of a Google OS system problem.  I am fairly satisfied with the basic function of my tablets.

The most problem I have is, in short of buying another Android 5.1 OS tablet to prove my theory that Google is trying to screw its customer, I am stuck with an android system that is somewhat disable.

hello ben. Regarding your problem I have a similar issue with my note 3. If i try to send files from storage to external cards it fails to do that. But I discovered that you can do it only with the stock file manager (think called samsung file manager). Maybe that is the case with teclast too??? Or maybe your problem is that your external sd card doesnt work with teclast? I’ve seen many topics about the issue and seems common here. sory for bad inglish

    .

I don’t mean to beat a dead horse, I think what you describe is slightly different. I am talking with Android 5.1 in my Teclast x98 plus, for some reason the option to allow me to change the default write function to the SD card when I mount the card is no longer there. For that function being no longer available means that many third party apps and even Google apps will no longer able to direct file and data generated by the apps directly to the SD card memory instead of the internal memory.

Do anyone in the forum have any idea if this is a defect in the Teclast firmware or is this Google’s intention to force us to use the cloud storage? Mind you that most mobile devices has limited internal memory and direct upload and download of files and data from the cloud cost data usage time and often WIFI or mobile data signals might not be readily available thus rendering the function useless.

I am new to android. I have searched every topic but cant find info on the best way to move apps to the sd card. On my friends android phone under apps in settings it has an option to move to SD but not on x98 plus. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you please identify your exact model? A5C7 or A6C9 or others ..etc  Also please tell us the Android version e.g. 5.0.1 or 5.1 or even 4.4.2 …etc Thanks

I am having the same problem. Even though the keyboard seems like is already designed for multiple OS.

I noticed that on the letter Q there is a function label says “for Android” and under W “for Win” and on the letter E “for iOS” Can someone in these forum please tell us how to use those special function keys.  May the BT keyboard is already designed for multiple OS pairing mode, so one does not have to remove the pair and re-pairing each time he switch the operating operating system.

Just format the card in a windows machine, go into android on tablet, insert card and in storage options choose erase data on removable storage and format it. This allowed all my SD cards to be seen in both operating systems.

Can you please tell me what format did you use? FAT32, exFAT or NTFS?

That seemed to do the trick, thanks. On a more general note, it seems to be a pretty slow tablet, I mean it really lags on Chrome. I wait for android hopefully to save the day for me.

Windows 10 is known to be slow with Chrome supposedly due to a memory leak with Chrome.

Can someone please help me with pairing this keyboard with a dual boot Teclast X98?

How do I pair the keyboard with Windows and android at the same time without repairing each time I change the OS platform? (meaning changing from windows to android or from android to windows.)

I noticed that there is a different function label on the letters Q, W, and E each showing different OS.  Do I press on these letter with the Fn key before the pairing?

There is no instruction came with the keyboard. Please advice. Thanks.

It is such a shame that Google has totally removed the feature in Android 5.1 to install apps and even files and data in the SD card. I wish I can revert back to Android 5.0. For whatever “good” reason in the name of apps and data security Google has rendered the SD card interface useless.

With the x98 plus dual boot system, the 64GB ROM is splitted between the windows 10 and the Android OS giving no more than 20GB ROM allocated to the Android system.  This amount of internal memory is just simply not enough for too many useful apps without the free access to the “expandable”SD card. Boy o boy I wish AI had purchased the earlier edition with Android 5.0.

I have another Samsung Android tab with 5.0 and the SD memory is freely accessible both for app and data. Unfortunately it is a 7” tablet and the screen is a bit too small for any real long period of use for media and other venues.

You said the “SD works flawlessly”. Please tell me if you are able to move any apps to the SD and the app still works? If so, did you use the application manager and “move to SD card” function?

I am glad the fat32 is working for you. But I am not sure why and how you need to “reset BIOS” Android 5.1 is not a very good OS. I am having all kinds of issues with it. Please see my post on Android 5.0 vs 5.1.  I am hoping that someone will have some insight without the need for rooting the tablet.

From what I understand, NTFS format on a SD card for sure will not be compatible with any Android OS. If you like the same SD card to be accessible by both Android and Windows OS the FAT32 format would be a better choice. I have been able to format my 64GB SD with FAT32 and it is recognized both in windows and the Android. In fact files can be shared between the two operating systems with no problem. (e.g. I downloaded some exercise video in the Android and copied them to the SD card, and the same video can be played in my windows 10 media player.)

I have read that exFAT is better for 64GB or larger SD card, but that format is not recognize by the Android OS consistently.

Mooggie, Thanks for your comment. But my situation is somewhat different. I totally have no problem with my Samsung note 3. Everything works as well as I expected. even including a 128 GB SD card. There are certain apps I can outright move out to the SD memory and they work flawlessly. It’s just that the screen is simply too small to watch any video for any length of time. It has android 5.0.

When I bought my teclast x98 plus the x98 air 3G was no longer in stock. Besides the Plus has more RAM and bigger storage (4G RAM and 64GB ROM). Unfortunately it came with android 5.1. I was not aware that Google removed the SD card access feature from 5.1 while 5.0 was working just so very nicely.

The case in point is I have used “tubemate” and “the Great courses” in my note 3 with android 5.o and 128GB SD card. I have been able to download tons of excellent youtube video. I was able to store them in the SD card without loading up my internal memory.

With the great courses, I have purchased many professional courses and was able to store them in the SD card also for offline use when I commute. Again without overloading my internal memory. Now with Android 5.1, the whole thing no longer work. What a total shame with Google.

What a shame, the so called android upgrade is a big step backward. Why would an OS limits the user from accessing the SD card? Then why bother to include an external storage interface? So what is the use of that slot if the SD memory inserted in it is not accessible? Is this Teclast’s issue? can Teclast improve on this feature with a BIOS upgrade?

I am a total newbie. Forgive me if I am showing my ignorance. First would some one tell me how to tell which model I have?

I have notice that between different android version (e.g. 4.4, 5.0 and 5.1) their ability to read sd cards varies, even without considering the file formats (FAT32 vs exFAT or even the old FAT). Now when the extended capacity sd card is introduced (SD vs SDHC vs SDXC) the situation is worse!

Can some one briefly show me how to tell me what Teclast tablet model I have and also why certain android OS can allow app to be move to the SD and others don’t.  I do know from having used different android tablets, ver 4.4 android seems to be more forgiving and it would let me move data and apps from the internal memory out to the sd and thereby freeing some internal memory to run the tablet.

Thank you for reading and helping me to learn.
