I got it today! Very very good, only used in Android by now. I am writing this with stylus Beta, for me best handwriting recognition app. Regarding real handwriting, I spent the afternoon testing some apps and I’ll keep Inkredible. And of course the stylus is great for accurate selection… Although I have no idea how to use the buttons. Just put the battery in place and started using it.

Build quality is good. The metal back, aluminum I think, is gorgeous. I bought it a flip cover/stand just like the iPad ones and the back is transparent allowing the real back to be seen, sort of frosted but still great.

I forgot to say the charging is NOT fast, is all night with tablet off.But I do not mind it, it guarantees a minimum of 8/10 hours of active use.

I hope it lasts…you know what happens sometimes…something works wonderfully and then suddenly you have a brick. I will cross my fingers…

Hello, since I bought mu Chuwi also for reading mags I think I can give a good answer.

I am an avid digital reader, for books I prefer my kindle and only occasionally my Note 3 oe iPad mini…but for magazines, newspapers and comics…I really needed something more, I was really fed up with the pinching out and the zooming…and I don’t like that “tablet-friendly” page formats newspapers offer…I want to see the real page in all its glory!

Well, fact is…I bought my Chuwi only for that purpose. I was not dreaming of downloading a lot of other programs, I only wanted KioskoyMas, Zinio and that’s all. I was also ready for the inconvenient of having to erase my downloaded newspaper everyday, and my magazines periodically, since my 16GB iPad mini was constantly annoying me with that “I am full” pop-up, being those apps the main culprits. I just wanted that. I was ever ready for a slow web browser.

But…to my amazement, my Chuwi has let me make much more than that. I can read those magazines and newspaper perfectly, almost always with no zooming, comics are a pleasure to read. But, more than that…I am able to have more issues downloaded at a certain time (it is because, misteriously, the same app takes much more place in the iPad than in Chuwi), although of course I avoid hoarding.  Apart from that, I’ve downloaded a bunch of other apps, including those for watching films and Tv, since the quality is very good. Yes, it’s not the iPad retina, but who cares. The other advantages compensate. As to the browser, no problems by now, it is fast certainly. I love the fact that the tablet has real “big” USB ports with no need of adapters, or that it can take a sd card. In fact,  I am using that old wired keyboard again…much faster to connect it than to do it via bluetooth. I mainly use the Chuwi with Android, although I have used Windows and no problems.

Well…now for the flaws. They are not important to me, it wouldn’t deter me to buy the Chuwi again. But of course they must be mentioned.

    1. Bluetooth and Wifi conflict: I have only tried twice, but when I want to stream video and at the same time use a Bluetooth speaker, it works but the streaming sometimes stops. I don’t know the cause, maybe it is a coincidence.
    2. I tried to connect my Chuwi to my TV via HDMI and the TV didn’t detect it. I searched the web and read it is sometimes the television set’s fault…and since it is not important for me, I did not try again.
    3. Sound is good for me, but not very, very good. Not very loud I mean, I do not mean distortions.

And this is my opinion. Out of 10, I would give it a 7 in general considering the general people’s requirements. But for me, it is 9 out of 10.

Marc, I am in the exact situation as you! Waiting for my stylus and yet being skeptical about it not damaging the plastic protector…And considering to buy a glass protector. As for the cheap styli…needless to say I also hate them! Enough to say that I own a Samsung Galaxy Note phone, so you can imagine the precision I am used to. The reason I asked about them was that somehow I wanted to try handwriting on my Chuwi and was surprised when I couldn’t other than with my finger. So I thought, maybe my tablet is defective?

I have made a test with another rubber point one…this manages to produce some lines, but just that, and at the cost of a lot of pressure.

I think I will give the HiPen a chance…I hope the screen protector I have installed will not prevent it working. I don’t know if the screen is easily scratchable and do not want to take the risk.

It’s 10 hours for me with quite an active  use. Today I switched it on at 9.30 and lasted till 19.30. All the time on Android with wifi, 80 percent of the time with screen on. Read magazines for 2 hours, watched YouTube documentaries for 3 hours or more. Also watched a film from Google play Movies or whatever is called, roughly 2 hours. It was downloaded but I didn’t bother to turn off WiFi while watching it.Moreover I used Bluetooth to connect speakers but truly only for this film. Rest of the time mostly browsed the web with the occasional standby lapses.

    <span style=”line-height: 1.5;”>Oh and brightness was</span>

    <span style=”font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;”> </span>

    <span style=”font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;”> </span>

    <span style=”font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.5;”> </span>

This has impressed me.Comparable to iPad.
