The iVoler type c 75W unfortunately wasn’t easily available where I am (switzerland), so I went for an anker adaptor:

I also ordered a USB c 3.1 PD certified cable, to be on the safe side.
March 5, 2017 at 11:03 pm #63052Would this work? And would it also work with a cube mix plus?

You really piqued my interest, especially when there’s stuff around like a mag-safe loon alike usb c charger, like this one:

Any idea whether this griffin charger would work with the cube mix plus?March 5, 2017 at 9:12 pm #63046Thanks for the tips.
@Gustavo: I’ll give this Charger you linked to a shot, thanks a lot!February 28, 2017 at 9:45 pm #62837About the clean install: As the stock installed windows 10 home version is activated, shouldn’t it just activate again automatically after freshly/clean installing windows 10 home via USB-Stick, with an Install-Image that I got from the MS site?

True dat, the drivers are signed. Ah, I should take off my tinfoil hat and just go with the official driver pack. 🙂February 25, 2017 at 5:29 pm #62697@Alex:
Thanks a lot for the info and the screenshot. Good to know that the driver pack works! How’s the chance that there’s any spyware hidden in those “chinese” drivers? I intend to make a fresh install for my ease of mind of having a personally installed windows… 🙂February 25, 2017 at 1:32 pm #62691A question about the drivers and win 10 in general: Where/how can I see the name/type/number/whateveritscalled of a specific device, so I can look out and download the needed driver? Is it in -> device manager -> specific device -> properties -> drivers? And what exactly have I to note down, I mean, where is the drivers name and version number?
I hope I could express clear enough what I mean.
And xiaoh: those backups: is that an image of a windows install or a backup of the different drivers? Could I just pick out one specific driver backup and use it? For example, if need shall be, could I just use the touchscreen and wacom drivers? And how did you backup those drivers?
Thank you all in advance for your answers.
February 24, 2017 at 1:05 pm #62662Veidas: Yeah, you are right, in the end, for buying new, the Mix Plus is the better choice, but I meant it like: For what you pay, you get more or less the same value in relation. Of course, when you upgrade the SSD of the book to an 128gb or higher, it will cost more. But you “could” sell the 64GB ssd and get some value back, so…
I meant it like that:
i7 book “as is” for 269.– is Price/Performance wise (get what you pay) more or less the same value Proposition as the mix plus “as is” for 360.–.
I made the same calculations (with thinking about abgrading the ssd to a larger capacity), and Chose the mix plus. If you just want the better device, then it’s clearly the mix plus. But you pay that with 90 bucks more.
February 23, 2017 at 9:41 pm #62632Well, according to this site, http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-m3-6Y30-vs-Intel-Core-m3-7Y30/m38171vsm196956
the core m3 7y30 is about 20 to 24 % faster than the core m3 6y30, and the mix plus has a 128 GB SSD instead of a 64 GB SSD… The rest of the specs is the same with the two tablets, so… They both are more or less the same value for the money at these prices.
I was in the same situation as you. I went for the cube mix plus, because of the slightly more power and the larger ssd. And I actually prefer white to the blue-green of the i7 book.
February 22, 2017 at 8:12 pm #62597Allright, I ordered a 15x15x1mm copper shim, it should arrive in 2 to 3 weeks… I’ll post on these boards when I finish the mod.
February 22, 2017 at 12:10 pm #62587I just re-watched the thermal mod Video for the cube mix plus, and I noticed Chris saying that he used a hammer to “treat” the Aluminium heatsink in the area where there is an indent where the cpu/gpu is… So… wouldn’t it be easier to not hammer the Thing but instead use a slightly thinner copper shim, i.e. the 0.8 mm one?
February 21, 2017 at 11:02 pm #62563Cloppy, will definetely do. But it’ll take time, the copper shims I want to order from Banggood will are out of stock atm and will be restocked on around the 28th of february.
BTW, how similar are the internals of the cube i7 book and the mix plus? I just read up on the thermal mod on the i7 book. There is talk that a 1mm thick shim and a 0,5mm thick thermal pad would be ideal.
Ah, my cube mix hasn’t even shipped yet and I’m already nervous about this mod haha. 🙂February 21, 2017 at 1:27 pm #62538@fris
Thanks for your reply! So I’ll order 1mm 20x20mm shim for the cpu/gpu and re-use the thermal pad for between the Aluminium Thing (that covers the cpu/gpu) and the back cover of the tablet, like in the techtablets-mod.
