    Hi Gilbert

I’ve sold mine years ago! Your problem sounds to me like it is actually broken and is not due to any firmware problems.

The kicking sound is probably the charging circuit. You might try to open it, disconnect the battery for 1 minute then reconnect and try to boot?

    Hi Dave

Mine has been working well when regarding the blackouts: never happens anymore. To save battery I sometimes when sitting in the dark set the screen contrast to 0% then the battery lasts for ages. (but as is clear battery is not a good point as well of the X98 pro)

Every now and then my WIFI driver gets corrupted and I had to revert to a backup image (I use Macrium Reflect for this, highly recommended)

Regarding the space on the tablet I have considered to wipe the Android partitions from within Windows using computer manager (storage manager). However I read many people advising NOT to do this as there are a total of about 16 partitions and if you wipe the wrong one(s) you cannot boot anymore.

So I keep to my motto that I always respect when it comes to computer equipment: if it aint broken dont fix it!!

    Cheers

    Dennis

    Hi all

I came here because I too have the same WIFI problem. It can work for days or weeks and then all the sudden: gone. No WIFI adapter available (gone from devicemanager) or it is there but has a red cross so its not working. Sometimes disable/enable in devicemanager worked.

I tried driverbooster, was a tip from somebody on the forum. It says the WIFI driver is very old (may 2015…) and when it tries to update it then it goes wrong and gone is my driver / wifi adapter again…

I now am trying the tip I got in this post of switch to Airplane mode in Android. I keep you posted.

A little tip from myself. I cloned the entire tablet, all partitions using Macrium Reflect free version. You can try all you want with the WIFI driver it does NOT work but restore the tablet with Macrium is a 20minute job. In Macrium you make a BOOT disk. So you connect to the OTG connector a HUB and connect a keyboard, mouse, USBdisk with your backup image and USB disk with the Macrium boot partition. Reboot the tablet, press F8…F10 I dont now which one exactly. Until it shows the boot menu and here I choose to boot from USB. Then it opens Macrium, in there I choose the backup image and I choose restore. Done and working.

I know its only a workaround but its the best/fastest I have for any problem with these damn chinese tablets. Just go back to a working state with Macrium

It does not really sound like the same problem, I only had it with Win10 but to be honest I only use Win10 not android.

I would say just try the solutions mentioned here.

Its been months since I was active on this forum and I have never had the blackout problems again with the tablet.

The only thing I have experienced is that the WIFI driver gets corrupted or something like that. This causes every once in a while that the WIFI could not be turned on after the tablet comes out of sleep. I also could not get any updates anymore, even not when the WIFI was working. What I did was go back to a previous image that I made with Macrium Reflect. I can highly recommend this tool, its free. I can always get the tablet back in working state in about 20min. After I put the tablet back to a state 3 weeks before the problems occured it was gone and has not returned since.

    Good luck

I’m not entirely sure if I understand but normal windows update does not work when you have to restart?

I never had this problem so I do not know how to solve. But in this forum there is somewhere described how to reinstall the entire tablet.

Maybe reinstall windows and then do ALL upgrades of windows (updates) that it can find?

From within windows goto settings and then updates. There was a major win10 update end of 2015

The 3A charger does not solve the battery drain. Its a safer charger because the tablet needs approx 2.4A but a 2A charger is supplied. Recently mine burned because it is stressed too hard. The 3A works fine for me.

Battery drain is terrible with this tablet. What works for me:

-rhe big windows update from nov2016

-discharge completely then charge t12hours even when its full

-I set the battery saver on all time

Still not perfect but ok for 4 to 5 hours

    Hi Ilaria

You cannot expect that someone here will write a manual to do these fixes sorry…

I can recommend you to attach a keyboard using the HOST cable that came with the tablet, power it down then back up and repeatedly press F7

In the BIOS locate the IGD Turbo option and DISABLE. If you then can get into windows, if it does not work do a RESTORE first.

If that succeeds  or you were able to get into windows normally already: perform all Microsoft upgrades you can find. There will be one that upgrades the entire WINDOWS10 version. That solved things for me.

Dont expect anything from Gearbest, they will not help you (it is now Chinese new year so nothing happening frankly for whole of February)

With lots of complaining and writing bad reviews I finally got them so far to refund me via Paypal an orderamount for a tablet Cover that I never received. Ordered 16 of sept and only few weeks ago finally they responded out of the blue and refunded me. So this took in total 4 months. That kind of shop is Gearbest.

    Dont order with them

And dont order a Chinese tablet anymore unless you are technical and like to tinker: they give you headaches!

That sounds easy and promising Echo! I’ll get that tool as well, no problems right now but for the future 🙂

Maybe my update to the newest windows did somehow the same but arranged by Microsoft. My tablet is stable since then

    Hi Dave

Mine is stable too now, without BIOS upgrade. The IGD turbo helped for the blackscreens but what really helped was the Windows10 upgrade that happened somewhere in December (or was it November…). It forced me to charge the tablet over night 12-14hours. Since then it has almost a normal battery life hahaha. Like 3..4 hours

    Hi Gammlerlord

I think the bricking with the one of Chris was because he had another version of the tablet where the bios upgrade was not suitable for.

But I also think this update does not help. Nor do I think Teclast comes up with a solution, they’ve moved on already to 2 new tablets. And the complaints of the users are already fading away, most of them have probably dumped the tablet and due to the bad reviews not many new people probably purchased it.

    Chinese Tablets…thats how it goes

    Hi Gammlerlord

You tried it all so now your guess is as good as mine. Try the firmware (BIOS) update?

    Hi Dave!

I wish you a happy new year too without any chinese tablet worries!

I’m afraid I cannot be of help here, I had connection issues with my headphones but after some PAIR-remove-PAIR-remove cycles it worked and still does.

I do know that there are no updates regarding the drivers etc. I check regularly…

So start I new post I would say

    @Dave thats good to hear!

Yes the tablet has very good specs, only (and ONLY) for that I give Teclast credit.

How they handle things about all the problems with the tablet I find just plain RUDE. Because they ignore every person who asks about it. I’v seen that in the 4 times I posted the whole story with the problems on their facebook page that there are so many others who have the same problems. By now they are well aware that the X98 pro has problems and yet they keep selling it. The X98 air, the predecesor also had problems (different ones). It is my opinion that a company should do simple quality control and if Teclast had done that they would have found out in 1 day that there are some tough problems with it.

The advertised battery life: NO ONE gets even half of that number. The black screens in windows…wow man how hard must it have been to discover that if you just do basic quality control?
