Hah! I’ve already read through all that. Great minds think alike. I suspected it would be a huge pain in the arse given what people were experiencing, and will likely just leave it for now. Thank you again for that.
I’ve tried this method:
By the way, if you want to make your own custom android_data partition size, just open with an hex editor the original gpt.bin and search near of android_data the hex number 50. Next replace this number the previous table of mirek hex | dec | size 08 — 8 — 2 GB 0C — 12 — 3 GB 10 — 16 — 4 GB 14 — 20 — 5 GB 18 — 24 — 6 GB 20 — 32 — 8 GB 28 — 40 — 10 GB 30 — 48 — 12 GB 40 — 64 — 16 GB 50 — 80 — 20 GB 78 — 120 — 30 GB A0 — 160 — 40 GB D4 — 212 — 53 GB Summarized: HEX = Hex(4*Size_GiB)
And it works, but for the iWork8 Air you should search for a “20” hex number near the column with “android_data” (not “50”) To edit the gpt.bin file, you could use this: http://download.cnet.com/HxD-Hex-Editor/3000-2352_4-10891068.html
I ended up returning it actually because the SD card slot died. plus my device was super slow in windows for no good reason. I even chopped the resolution down to see if that would help. I have a miix 2 8 and it runs like a top despite being hardware inferior. I think these Chinese tablets just aren’t made well or something.

I was also hoping to increase storage for the fact that the partition appears to run slow because it’s very full. My buddy’s Lenovo Miix 2 8 runs windows far more smoothly despite having poorer specs and I’m attempting to figure out why that is, but that was all I could come up with. maybe I just need a new windows install and it will fix my problem.

That is a huge response. Thank you! This is great and I appreciate it so much. I will attempt all of this tonight and again, you are a very good person for writing all of that out. Warranty? I only have 3 days of warranty. ha!
Also is there a way to safely decrease the size of the 8GB android partition by 5GB? 3 should be ample for that, and 5 would make a HUGE difference on the windows side.
September 8, 2016 at 3:30 pm #49236How did you install this update with only 2GB free on C: drive?
September 8, 2016 at 2:49 pm #49231I have an AIR. I like the anniversary update on my laptop. Edge works great with extensions. Looks like the only way to get it is to increase the windows partition size. So
I don’t have the AIR version, mine is the older ultimate iwork8. The reason I have 21gb is I used the modded teclast gpt.bin to reduce the android paritions. There is an cube version which I haven’t tried. Its a tedious process that involves u wiping out everything.
The other suggestion I have is backup your drivers, windows and do a clean install, but tbh after a few days with anniversary update, I’m getting pretty annoyed with it.

September 8, 2016 at 2:30 pm #49228Riccardo, how did you even install the anniversary edition? Mine won’t let me do it b/c not enough space on the windows system drive.
September 8, 2016 at 2:14 pm #49225I have also asked this question. Would it be possible to decrease the Android OS partition size without damaging it? On my phone, there are 3 main “drives” I assume they are partitioned accordingly. There’s a device root (represented in ES as “/) where I’ve learned not to tinker. This contains the android OS, drivers, etc. But then the onboard SD card, I can wipe in a recovery without problems. The android OS appears to be appropriately allocated in its normal partitioned environment on the iWork8 AIR. So my question is, Is the 8 GB partition volatile? As in, if we used Windows Disk management, we could essentially delete this partition, build a new Fat32 partition, and then use the Expand utility in Windows 10 to expand it over into the unpartitioned space. Would this way of thinking be correct?
February 29, 2016 at 12:58 am #27507“The installation was cancelled. Some installation files are missing or corrupt. No changes will be made.” When following install via techbench windows 10 instructions GCole left. Looks like nothing works. Mine’s like 4 months old and I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING. There’s 90 dollars down the drain I’ll never get back.

February 3, 2016 at 2:07 am #24810Anybody know what I’m doing wrong? What’s the most likely place to start trying to figure this out? The files, the hub, the download, what?
